Music files are stored on an External Hard Drive

I have been trying to help my friend get his Serato Itch to load the iTunes Library.
I have the box in the library set up check marked to read from the iTunes Library.
When it goes through the process that takes over 30 minutes since the library is about 60 thousand plus songs, it freezes up.

I opted to remove the the check mark from the library set up, deleted the Serato files from C:/Music and from the external drive to start over.
This time I just dragged and dropped all the music folders using windows explorer to the left side of Itch where the crates are. This is the only time I can get the entire library to load.

However, we are getting glitches and the system locks up losing fx WHEN we fire up Itch with the hardware usb connected? Any ideas there?

I really want to be able to load the song library via the iTunes.

Do you think this has anything to do with running 64 versus 32 bit?

Also, I am currently using Serato Scratch live, so can I just copy my "_Serato_ " files to his laptop and extrernal and try from there???

I don't see the issue being with corrupt files, because we are using the same library I have on my Scratch Live and there is no corrupt file logos showing on that library.

Hey James,

Firstly Scratch Live and Itch share the same library however they do deal with reading your Music files very differently. ITCH at this stage as a more limited capacity with large music files than SL.
Generally we see more issues coming up with those users who use iTunes to manage their library. In this case with such an extensive library you'll have to decide whether you'd like to migrate your iTunes library into ITCH using this article to help: serato.com

There shouldn't be any difference between the 64 & 32 bit set up really with your system spec's as they are. But i'd run through these optimization guides and hopeful that should ease up the processing on your computer :
serato.com

and

blog.dubspot.com

You could copy the _Serato Folder_ to the External drive and that should bring up your crates from your other system. However you may need to run through parts of this article to relocate your files : serato.com

Let me know how you go.

Dave W,
Thanks for the reply.

There are several things I want to try.
I will have to attempt this first one since the ASUS laptop in question is in the shop for warranty repair on the screen. If I can get this to work on my HP Laptop that is running Windows 7 64 bit, I can get a better idea if it is the ASUS having some issue or not.

1st thing I want to do with the HP is to install itch with a known good _Serato_ files/library that already runs off an iTunes Library from with music stored on an external drive. I use this laptop as a backup for Scratch Live. It's my 2nd Laptop, I primarily use a MacBook Pro. But the HP Laptop should serve as a good platform to see if I can replicate all the issues we are having with the ASUS laptop.

Also I think I will have to to a factory system restore on the ASUS for the owner has gone delete happy and may have deleted files causing further issues. So once we get that laptop back, I will go that route (factory restore), and install ITCH all over and the library.

Can I just locate the files as they are stored on the external drive select all and drag and drop them to the crates area on ITCH???

Are there any plans to fix the issue of ITCH/iTunes with large libraries?

This is known to us and is in the pipeline, can't say when it will be revised.
