I have used my allen & heath product 3 times. The first time the system frooze twice, but only for about 10-15 seconds. The secon time I played for 3 hours and it did not freeze at all. The last time I played was just this past saturday and within a 5 hour span it frooze 6 times! The last time was about 15 minutes, which was in the middle of playing for the party. Also when I analye my files it seems to freeze up periodicly as well. I bought a brand new Toshiba laptop that beats all of the minium specs. I do not have any music on the laptop either. I'm running all of my music from an external hard drive. I have been very reluctant to go digital, but a dj buddie of mine showed me what serato can do and I was hooked. I cannot keep having this problem in the middle of a gig. Everytime I load a song I hold my breath and pray that it doesn't freeze. I do love the program and the Allen & Heath controller as well. I f this problem keeps up, I will be forced to return the new equipment and keep playing from cds. All of the up dates are up to date as well. I have athat same buddie of mine that set up the laptop and he is very computer savy. PLEASE HELP!!

How can you be sure that the problem is fixed just like that?

Hi John Harvey,
Have you analyzed all your files and ensured to demo any that are flagged as corrupt?
When you say it freezes, do the waveforms visually stop, but the music carries on, or does the music stop also?
Are you doing anything particular when this happens? Such as creating cue points or using FX, or does this usually happen when loading a track to the deck?

HEY JOHN ITS BIGMARSUPASTAR ... YOU KNOW THE DJ BUDDY YOU REFERRED TO,WELL I KNOW JOHNS SYSTEM AND TO ANSWER THE QUESTION TO SERATO.
1. When the FILES are analyzed we have not encountered corrupt files yet.
2. AT 1 event the waveform did freeze up while playing music.
3. The routine changes from time to time as to when the freeze up occurs , basically it is pot luck when it freezez

I have been using scratch live for a long time and had no issues ,,( well once) with freezing
and I use it in both studio and mobile applications (in the past). There is a software issue here with John's program , maybe the 2.3 update ?

Hey Dj mar aka bigmar, thanks for the input :)
However, John Harvey has stated he is having an issue with ITCH and his Allen & Heath controller, not Scratch Live. However some problems such as library related ones, may exist in both programs, if you are using both.

My Allen & Heath controller w/ itch is still FREEZING UP!! I have analzied all of the files as well as deleted any corrupt files. It was even freezing up when I was analizing the files. I have about enough of this freezing up. Why would it freeze up when i am just analizing? I am hoping that Serato can fix this problem! If it does not get fixed I am taking this controller back and getting another controller with some other program on it!

Usually freezing when analyzing is caused by ITCH coming across a corrupt file during the analyzing process.
It can also happen analyzing large amounts of files at a time, when your CPU cannot cope with such an intensive load for an extended period of time.
Are you able to completely analyze all files now that you have removed corrupt ones? You can re-analyze by dragging and dropping groups of files on the "analyze files" button.
I would recommend perhaps doing this in groups of 100 or so files rather than the whole lot at once.
How many files do you have in your library?
Also, what is your USB buffer size set to in the setup of ITCH? Can you try moving it to the far right and apply the changes?
Do you have any other USB devices connected to your computer?

I have the buffer setting already over to the right. I also have the hard drive dirrectly connected into the laptop. I also spoke to allen & heath tech support yesterday and he had me re-install serato as well as checking my computer for the correct settings. Everything is where it should be as of right now. I still freezes up during analyzing files wheater it's a small group of music or a large group. I have a job this Friday and I hope that all is well. I have been doing extensive reasearch about this product and serato and it seems that there is alot of problems with this software! It doesn't seem to matter what kid of laptop that people have, their just having the same problem as me. MY QUESTION IS WHY AND WHY ISN'T IT FIXED BY NOW WITH ALL OF THE COMPLAINTS!!!!!!!

Could you please provide me with your complete computer specs?serato.com
How many files do you have in your library approx? Are you able to even able to analyze a group of 10 files without problems?
Reading these forums, it may seem like there are lot of issue with the software, but often it isn't something that can be just "fixed" by the way the software is made, often computers are not set up correctly for use with audio/DJ software when they are manufactured, so adjustments need to be made.
There are many DJs out there using our software without issues, but they won't be on our forums talking about it, if they aren't experiencing any problems.
Im sure we can get to the bottom of your issue if you are willing to be patient and troubleshoot with me :)

Here are my specs: Toshiba- Satellite C655, Intel(R) Quad 4 Core(TM) i3-2310M @ 2.10Ghz 2.10Ghz. Ram 4.0 GB System type- 64-bit operating system. Windows 7. I talked to a tech support guy from Allen & Heath on Monday afternoon. He had me uninstall Serato and we installed it again. He also tweeked my computer to what ever settings that he recommended. Even with his tech support, i'm still having trouble! I just reied to analyze 10 files and it's still freezing up. On my external 1 terabite hard drive, I have 634GB free of 931GB. I understand that many other DJs are not having problems with serato, but at the same time researching and reading reviews there seems to be alot that are having trouble. They are using different laptops as well as different controllers. From reading the problems other DJs are having, some think it's when serato went from 1.7 to 2.1? I am hoping that this problem can be resovled. I really do like the searto software and I want to continue to use it. I have a job on Friday March 9th and I am going to have to take my other set of equipment. That means drag all of my cd's as well as big bulky case. PLEASE HELP!

You are welcome to try ITCH 1.7 if you believe it is an issue with the version you are using, it is available here: serato.com
Let me know if there are any improvements.
Do you use iTunes in ITCH?
Can you please try the following instructions:
1. Close all programs
2. Create a folder on your desktop and name it something you will remember
2. Transfer 50 files from your external hard drive to the folder
3. Disconnect your external drive
4. Navigate to your default music folder "My Music"
5. Rename the folder "_Serato_" to "_Serato_old_"
6. Open ITCH then import the folder with 50 files into your files browser
7. Try analyzing these files
Let me know how you go?

I just got back from a gig. I used the 1.7 version of itch and it did not freeze. No I do not use itunes in itch. The other instructions were already done, it helped very little. I know I said that the 1.7 versiobn worked, but with that being said it should work with no matter what version! Some of the other problems that are out there, are from back in 2010. I would think by now that there would be a solution for this.

So no improvement whatsoever, when using ITCH 2.1, with 50 or so files on your internal drive, new "_Serato_" folder, and your external disconnected?
