I have a mid 2010 Macbook Pro, 13.3", 8 Gb Ram, 2.4 GHz, 250 Gb hard drive @ 5200 rpm, running Snow Leopard 10.6.8. I currently use a Seagate go flex pro 500 Gb external hard drive with fire wire to store all my music and crate files. I've done all the Mac Optimizations, but I still get a split second drop out occasionally. My Cpu meter stays low, the midi light doesn't come on and I've changed the usb cable, but the problem still persists. So I'm thinking that maybe because my files are on the external drive, this extra process might be the reason for this. I'm thinking about upgrading my Internal drive to a 750 Gb @ 7200 rpm. I've read the Serato article about how to do this and I've also watched Konix's you tube video, both of which are very helpful. However, I have my music files (200 Gb) spread out over about 35 folders and wish to make a folder and call it "DJ MUSIC" then drag all my 35 music folders to this folder. My question is this, Will ITCH still find all the music & crate files after I Rescan the ID3 Tags and then drop that newly made "DJ MUSIC" folder onto the relocate lost files button? Or will they be forever lost since the original file path was moved and so I'll have to manually remake all crates, subcrates etc? All thoughts and suggestions are appreciated.

Hey Dameon,

Step 1:) Yes you can do this. It's a bit of a process but will be fine if you follow the guide.
First parts of this article may not be specific to your process but read through it and you'll see what you have to do for step1.

Make sure you do all of step 1 before moving to step 2..
Then close Serato SL ..

Step 2:) Copy from your external drive _Serato_>Subcrates> All your crates that you want to use over into your.... music>_serato_ > Subcrates>

This should work, let me know how you go. Good luck!

Hey Dave W, thanks for the response. Do I really need to name my music file "hide from SSl" as per the instructions in the attached article? Can I just name it "DJ MUSIC" then copy all my music files to it, then Rescan the ID3 tags and then drop the newly made "DJ MUSIC" folder onto the Relocate Lost Files button and have it find the files in the new location? Of course, this would be done after copying the _serato_ file first, so that my crates and subcrates would be saved.

Yeah that's fine, shouldn't be an issue. You can really call it anything :)

Let me know how you go with it.

Hey Dave W, I finally got around to changing out my internal hard drive from the stock 250 @ 5400 rpm to an upgraded 750 @ 7200 rpm. I've copied my _Serato_ and my music files and everything seems to be working fine so far. One thing I have noticed though is that all my files have gone back to 'White' (Unplayed) and whenever I load a track to the deck and play it, it doesn't turn 'Green' (Played) anymore. However, if I load a track in the offline player, the track changes to 'Green'. This is not a problem as such, but I am curious as to why this happens.

Hey Dameon,

Sounds like you got it sorted however just so you know for the future; The player mode on the ITCH & Scratch Line is an A B algorithm. This means when you load a track on deck A until you load a track into deck B it won't show up as played. This is because if it did it would turn up as played in the history. And you don't want track your just previewing to turn green :)

Hopefully this helps.
