When my laptop is plugged in to the power outlet... i get the fuzz when it is not plugged in but not any where as bad...

Hi ThaddyP,
have you tried testing in different locations, where there may be limited electrical appliances that may cause interference? Are you able to test with an alternate power cord at all? (I understand if this is not possible)
Try testing with alternate usb cords as well - i've seen this work although it may not immediately seem that the usb is directly power related.

I have had this happen as well; I think it is a problem for PC users. What type of computer are you using?

some good feedback from users and what's worked for them there white_rabbit, thanks for that.
The laptop may not allow this, but if you can test with the battery taken out ThaddyP and running off power supply that may help.
