Since version 2.0, I find myself with several problems I have solved by myself but since the version 2.3 ... I'm not really happy.

Many of my video files are now rendered with corruption yet they walk perfectly. I even files that have been analyzed which must now load gradually bar display.

I ...

Perian installed for a long time.
Analyzing all my crates several times
Destroyed DATABASE V2 file to start the scan

NOTHING TO DO!

With the new version 2.3, all my videos that are corrupt are now scanned with the words:

THIS FILE HAS AN INCORRECT DATA STRUCTURE

I pushed the test re-download songs corrupt and the same thing happens.

If you ask me did you reinstall your computer to nine I'll tell you YES! Et .. It gives nothing!

BUT if I resume my version 1.9.2, everything works for the better.

My computer:

MacBook Pro 13" & 17" 2010
10.6.8
13 & 17 = 4 gig ram
13 = 2,4 dual core 17 = 2.8 dual core

Extenal HDD WD element 2.0T

Hi Richard B,

Sorry to hear your having issues with video files in Scratch Live and Video-SL.

Scratch Live 2.3.3 has a refactor of the MP4 TAG Library and this has resolved a number of issues that were present in 2.3.1 with video files.

If a file is deemed corrupt in Scratch Live 2.3.3 it is because it is malformed and does not meet the standard for that container file. You may be able to play these in Scratch Live or other media players but you will need to re-enocde these files correctly if you don't want them to show up as corrupt in your Scratch Live library.

You can re-encode these files using Handbrake and the Video-SL Preset for Handbrake that has been created to automatically set the recommended format and codec for use with Video-SL.

Have a look at this link wich includes the Handbrake link and the link for the Video-SL Preset for Mac.

NOTE: The TAGs written in Scratch Live 2.3.3 are NOT backwards compatible and will not be visible in earlier versions of Scratch Live.

You could attach a couple of the files that are being deemed as corrupt to this thread and I will have a look at them here.

Hello Anthony,

Here is a link to a file. RAR are you going to download and watch videos that are in taint mode.

It is certain that I could re-encode with handbrake but I find that I lose the quality and also my file weighs 1/3 of its original space ...

Girlicious
65 MB before encoding
after encoding 24 MB

I find it strange ...

Hi Richard B,

I'm downloading the file and will have a look at it here. At this stage the download is telling me it is 868MB ?

I will let you know once I check the file.

Open the files in Mpeg Streamclip, and 'save as' a new mp4.

The newly saved versions will work absolutely fine.

Tag changes made afterwards are saving too.

Sorted.

Hi Richard B,

Not sure what you thought you were linking me to but that link is corrupt.
phatbob 1:27 AM - 20 February, 2012
It was a rar file with a few videos in it Anthony. They were old Xtendamix videos and the tags were definitely corrupt.

Resaving in Mpeg Streamclip without re-encoding did the trick.

Don't worry Richard B, I won't be keeping copies of your files... I could never play videos with such massive chryons and Canadian ringtone text numbers on them in the UK... Can't believe Xtenda had chryons like that!

You should take the link down though, to make sure the whole world doesn't download your folder!

@phatbob

Thanks for that, the download didn't complete here.

I started to re-encode my old files with HandBrake. It's been just 30 hours I spend over there but it does not matter.

The majority were old files but I found some in the recent batch so I thought it was amazing.

Regarding the link, it is now off. We made test to find the error so it's normal to send as many files to find the cause. But I thought it was a shame to have to re-encode as many files because of a basic acquisition scripts.

Thank you for your help and if I find something more, I'll report you.

Did you realise what I was getting at Richard?

You don't need to re-encode those files.

Just doing a 'save as' with Mpeg Streamclip keeps the video intact but creates a new file structure which means the new copies are fine.

It only takes a few seconds for each file and doesn't degrade the quality of the video in any way... ;-)
