I will play a night and video-sl plug in will crash and automatically reopen itself after 3 hours of play. Almost on the dot at 3 hours. I will post a crash report I saved last night, but I have to be honest. I cannot continue to use a product that consistently crashes after 3 hours of play. Audio never crashes (thank god).

why not try an older version to "test" this.

I've had this problem since I've had my MacBook since August. It doesn't matter what version of sl and video sl are on, it does that.

sounds like you need to have your macbook looked at.

For what? --- there is nothing hardware based wrong with the Mac, it's video sl and QuickTime. All a bunch of software and settings that miscommunicate.

1. It's a macbook, I didn't spend that money to have to install SmcFanControl --
Does anyone from Serato care because I have tried these configs on two different iOS with no luck.

What version of Perian are you running?
Where do you buy your video files?

SmcFanControl is a free download there's no need to pay for it :)

Does anyone from Serato seriously want to help??? Tecniq, I appreciate your input, but if it were getting too hot I'd also crash serato and that's not the case. The problem lies within video-sl, the Rane ttm57, and the newer MacBook 2011 core i7. It's all in the programming.

Video files aren't corrupt or not formatted properly, I share in a few differen pools and smashvidz for most tracks. These videos have been tested on 4 different computers without any problem, mine happens to be the newest of the bunch. -- latest version of Perian

Hey DJ JP2011,
It looks like your graphics card driver is causing the crash. Can you please let me know what graphics card you have in your machine?
Sam.

Can you let me know the exact version of OS X you are using? You can check this in "about this mac" located in the apple menu at the top left hand corner of the desktop screen.
Since driver updates are included in OS updates it may be something here that is causing this.

so i reformatted the mac and left it at OSX 10.6.7 (last update before the previous version) and I have more video stability, but now I am getting nasty crashes "what appear to be at random" every couple times before I plug in the ttm-57 while I'm editing videos and rewriting tags.
Samuel S
10:34 PM - 14 February, 2012
Can you let me know if it crashes when updating the tags on specific videos? If so, could you upload one please?
Sam.

The videos seem to be random because it first crashed on a video from smashvidz, then it crashed on an 8thwonder promo, then it crashed on a video I encoded with handbrake. Each time it's crashed, it's allowed me to go back and edit the tag without a problem.

FWIW:
I used to subscribe to 8th Wonder, and I had SO many problems with their encoding.
The problem is, the files aren't corrupt, SL won't spot them.
But they have so many problems with the encodes, the worst culprit being videos with '-1' keyframes. I don't even know HOW you could encode a video like that.
And files like that WILL cause crashes.
In the end I deleted the LOT. You can go through each 8th file with MovieInfoBatch, and check them, if you don't want to get rid of them all, but until you've done that I'd say you would be advised to not let them near your library.
It might not solve this particular problem you're having, but I needed to say it regardless. 8th Wonder files are dangerous.

Well I only use 8th for some tracks, but I use smashvidz mostly. I have been debating gettin tod of it because you find like 10 good vids out of 1000 that are quality enough to play.

That's the other problem with 8th!
Sorry to have butted in on your thread, but I feel duty bound to warn people about 8th Wonder when I can... ;-)
