Not sure what happened but I would rebuild your databaseV2 file --> serato.com

Ok just did the new database V2
-Although I had all my files Analyzed when I first installed 2.3.3 weeks ago, now once I reopened SL and the new DBV2 was rebuilt, I hit the analyze button and for some reason SL is reanalyzing some 5 000 files out of my 15 000 files library.
-I also noticed that some 30 videos which used to be fine before the new dbv2 are now marked as corrupt, all of them are from a very popular video pool, so I know it's not a problem of encoding.
Maybe SL is now more picky on displaying corrupt files, and somewhere during the download process of those vids on my mbp the internet messed up or something I dont know. No biggie I will redownload them.
Now I will try tonight at the club and see how it goes. I'm curious to see if some of my mp4s will still have their overviews rebuilt on each new SL startup now (see my other help thread regarding Crash while spinning)

Hey Res,
I'm going to move this thread to the VSL help section and have Serato help you with this.
As you know we here at Rane do not deal with video stuff.
If you took out all your video files and were still having issues we would help but I'm going to assume the issues your having are video file related.

Ouch! Seems that after u rebuilt your databasev2 your videos became corrupt using 2.3.3? I'd stay away from that version if I were you.

So why did you help him in the first place? Now some of his video files are corrupt...LOL brilliant.

Either that or you did not follow all the steps in rebuilding your databasev2 ---->
serato.com
if it were me I'd restore the old databasev2 and see if the files are still corrupt. But you wouldn't jump off a bridge of someone told you to would ya?

I was helping because he said this occurred without VSL or ME running so I was going to attempt to help him in case it was audio files.
Rebuilding a database would not cause his remaining issue.
You've been on the forum for a while and know that 80% of weird problems are due to a corrupt database.
Rebuilding it clears out such problems. The changes made in 2.3.3 regarding tagging video files is more than likely the culprit here. Thus I'm referring this to Serato as we here at Rane do not deal with video or issues due to video files.

No problem Zach thx for your help you guys at Rane have always been there for me and I really appreciate that. Removing all my video files aint gonna happen as I'm 100% video dj :-)
I'm sure you are right it must be related to a video issue (as what all the main issues with SL are lately as far as I'm concerned).
Tecniq, I've had 2.3.3 for weeks and I play at least 5 nights a week with it and when I first installed it and analyzed all my files, only 2-3 vids came up as corrupt out of 700Go, so it's not bad.
However something weird definately happened after redoing my dbV2.
I'm not a cpu genius, but I'm not dumb, I can read and follow steps in a tutorial, especially on rebuilding the dbV2

7 out of 10 times serato crashes well closing for me. and its been that way ever since i got serato (about the same time 2.0 came out). is there anything i should worry about? will serato crashing on close cause other issues? When i was on a PC running video SL i was told that was normal because i was using MIDI controllers. Should i be worried? And i have rebuilt my database file lots of time because i had the issue with 2.2.2. corrupting my video files.

this right here ^ I just can't understand nore prob will ever understand why serato has a 2.2.2 version that clearly does this this tells me "clearly" they did not fully test the software before developing it for users who paid $$$$$$ just to get the SL2/SL4 and have the software bug the fuck out... It must suck to own a SL2 or SL4 as have to use this version until a version was later supported. Now why is it not supported for SL3? what is the reason behind that? However I'm completely okay with my SL1 and 2.2.0 it's been rock solid since I first downloaded it.

I just want to know an answer of why 2.2.0 isn't supported for SL2 & SL4? Cause 2.2.2 was obviously a fail.
DJ Tecniq
7:00 AM - 1 February, 2012
hrmm could of sworn they were but maybe im wrong. 2.2.2 had issues 1. was with the gain being fucked up. 2. was corruption issues. and calibration issues..I know by experience cause my friend has an SL2 and we'd gig with it.

Oh and the calibration issues were both confirmed on mac & pc. it would never calibrate on version 2.2.2 it would always jump to the far right for both decks. 2.2.0 and SL1 never had these issues...test for yourself.

side note:
So even though I reanalyzed all my files with 2.3.3 and also after redoing the dbV2,
I still have overviews being rebuilt on some mp4s and m4vs (the m4vs were encoded with the handbrake serato preset)
If you need me to upload some of those vids let me know

Hi Res-Q,
Sorry mate I have been so busy here I havn't had time to test those database files yet.
Could you please attach a couple of the video files that you encoded with Handbrake that continue to write overviews every time. I will be on to this first thing in the morning.
Thanks
Anthony

no problem Anth.
so here are a few, some are mp4s from pools, some are m4vs encoded by me 2-3 years ago. Since then I use mpegstreamclip and dont have issues.
if you need more lemme know

Hi Res-Q,
I haven't managed to do a databse V2 check yet. I did however download those files and test them in Scratch Live 2.3.3.
The MP4 files analyzed and worked OK. The m4v files did build overviews every time.
I copied the m4v files and changed the file extension to .mp4. This fixed the issue and now they no longer re write the overview every time and they retained their metadata that I had changed in the previous test. This is a workaround for now and I understand you are now using MpegStreamclip for your conversions.
m4v is an mp4 container and I will have to look deeper into why this is happening with some files.

Thx Anth, so you are saying that I can go ahead and change the few m4vs that I have and rename them to mp4 and I'll be fine right? no risk of corrupted files or things like that?
There still is an issue with why some mp4s have there overview rewritten on every newly opened SL session. I'll upload you a couple more mp4s that rebuild all the time, might help
thanks for looking into it.

Hi Res-Q,
Yeah, as far as changing the file extension to .mp4 you should be OK. I tested them re-analyzed them and they seem to be fine, not corrupt.
I will look at the two new files and see if I can find anything.

ohhh but changing the extensions will make me lose all my sorting (files into crates); and they will all turn red and i will need to re-add and re-analyze them. not too great humm.... i will do it slowly then to make sure everything is ok

Hi Res-Q,
In theory you will only have to relocate lost files. Unless your crates are ordered by filename ?
