Hi DJToneArmstrong,

Don't worry about the serial number, it has been automatically registered to your Serato.com user account so it isn't necessary.

So is this case even if your are trying to load those files in offline player? (TTM 57SL disconnected?)

How many crates/files roughly do you have on the external drive?

I heard Seagate's are not the best ext drives. Some take forever loading. I'd try another external but that's just me.

Ok have maybe 15 crates.....400gigs of vidz......my friend has a seagate flex but its a for mac one thats silver mine is black.....his loads in like seconds....mine scans all the vids then is ready to use in like 5 to 10 min. Also.....i want to manage my files and crate with serato instead of doing it on the ext.....everytime i add new music i have to drop and drag the crates into serato in order to use them.....is there a way i will scan automatically for new files added?

The silver ones have 7200rpm, drives and the black ones have 5400rpm drives. I dont think that is the only reason your having long load times but it could be part of it.

God i WISH!!!!!!!! this is my NUMBER 1 Request for serato to add as a feature... I dont know why they wont, actually i do. but its a bag excuse. they say it will add to load times of peoples computers. I say thats only shitty computers and it should be able to be turned off like itunes.... But still they said they have no intention of adding it. Which is stupid cause VDJ has it and it still loads faster that SSL. and im running both programs on the same system.

Ok i followed an earlier thread from DJ PUMA where you guys resolved this......i erased i tunes and all files linked to them......before i had i tunes managing my files so when i moved them to the external it was linking them every time i plugged the drive in......now within 30 sec they all just pop right in.....problem solved!!! This caused me a problem last week at the club because i renamed a file the middle of a set....when i loaded it crashed my mac....talk about 300 people just starring up at you like what the F@%$! Then it took for ever to reload......i looked back at the log it renames the linked file associated with itunes and launched itunes in the middle of my set. My mac NEVER crashes in the 2 years i have used vsl....anyway someone told me there is a way to rig the external to update crates on each sl load , but i have tried it and don't know how to get it to work....well thank you for responding my most important problem is fixed thats all i care about. Your threads always take care of my problems and your support has been great.....TY!

Hey DJToneArmstrong that is great to hear. So you have basically stopped using itunes with Scratch Live and the load times are a lot faster?
DJToneArmstrong 7:11 PM - 10 February, 2012
Well i guess the xlr files where attached to the video files ... i think serato was scanning them becuase they were linked.......but when i deleated itunes and all the files assosiated with it ...then dragged the crates back into serato...they didnt have the xlr associate files attached to them so then just loaded them right in and didnt scan them.....now im just Analyzing the files
so hopefully it stays that way ....but my itunes is in the recycle bin for now.

iTunes is the worst music program on the market.

What was the purpose of the xlr files?
We often recommend moving away from itunes, if you want to get real serious about file organization. Here is an article about migrating from itunes even: serato.com
