When I play a video, the output window only shows different color blocks, with horizontal bars at the top and bottom. these videos show correctly in quicktime and other programs.

Sounds like you do not have the correct codecs installed.

Hi DJ Val,

Does this happens with ALL of your video files? Or just some of them?

What file format are these videos?

As DJ tecniq mentions, can you please go through this guide and ensure you have the all the recommend codecs installed?
