If all my files (mp4) have been analyzed, why sometimes if I load a file for the 1st time does it build an overview of the entire wav form? Isn't that supposed to be part of the analyze process?

Hi VideoDJQ,

try dragging these files onto the Analyze Files button rather than clicking the button to Analyze all.

Do you see any difference now?

Hmmm Mathew but that poses a few questions.
1) How would I really see a difference? If I only notice random files building overviews when I drag them to a player.. what's to say the ones I drag to the analyze button, then to the player, weren't one of those problem files in the first place?
2) Of course I could force analyze all my files, but what is the reasoning behind using that method as opposed to just clicking analyze? Not to mention I really don't want to force analyze all 16k + files that are, for the most part it seems, already analyzed :-/

Keep in mind this seems to only happen ONCE to random files. Once that file is loaded in the player and builds an overview, it's not as if it happens again next time that file is loaded to the player. From that point on, it seems to actually be analyzed! That's what makes this so strange because even though I click on analyze and it says "all files have been analyzed" it seems pretty obvious that some random ones were not.

Ah yes well if it only happens once it will be difficult to notice. How long does this loading process take?

Are these only MP4's, that you've noticed?

They don't take long to load 10-15 seconds maybe? But I've heard horror stories about playing tracks that do not have overviews built prior to loading :-(

and yes I only play mp4 files

Can you try all these optimization tips please:

• Switch off Bluetooth.
• Disable any Anti-Virus software.
• Switch off wireless network and unplug any wired network connections.
• Switch off screen saver and set sleep mode to 'never'.
• Make sure your hard drive doesn't have a sleep mode selected.
• Ensure you have ample room left on your hard drive (this is approximately a minimum of 10% of your hard drive capacity - both internal and external).
• Close down any other software, including antivirus software or the like.
• Calibrate your USB buffer setting. Start with the USB buffer slider at the hard right position, and slowly move it as far to the left as you can before you notice any audio interruptions or loss of performance. Ideally you will want the lowest buffer setting possible.

i just got the rane 57 and cant find the analyze files you are talking about. im trying to analyze my songs but i am doing that by playing the songs one at a time

Ray you won't see it while your hardware, the 57, is plugged in. With it unplugged launch scratch live and the button will be above your browser, to the left.
