The Denon DN-HC5000 periodacally will freeze for 10 seconds

I recently purchased a new laptop to use for DJing. Since I started using this new laptop, my controller will freeze up for about 10 seconds about 3 or 4 times during a 3 hour DJ set. It may freeze up more often, but I notice when I go to mix in the next song. It never did this with my old laptop. They both were using the same operating system, but this new laptop has more RAM, a faster processor, a better video card, etc. Any idea what could be wrong?

R-A-C pretty much asked the questions I would have asked initially.

I strongly recommend going to the Windows optimization guide that he has linked also, as making some of these adjustments to your computer may help with the issue you are experiencing.

This is way overdue, but I made all the tweaks on my new computer (yes, from January) and I'm still having the problem of my Denon DN-HC5000 freezing for 10 seconds every 4 or 5 songs.

Here are the specs of my laptop:
Processor: Intel i7 2.70GHz
RAM: 8GB
Operating System: Windows 7, 64-bit
Hard Drive: 120GB Solid-State
Video Card: AMD FirePro M8900 Mobility 2GB

I run my programs and OS on my solid-state drive and I have a second hard drive (750GB drive) where I store my music.

Ok, is that second hard drive internal or external?

If you were to play some music on the same drive you run your OS/ITCH do you still have the same issues?

Also, do you have any other USB devices connected to your computer while using ITCH? mouse/keyboard etc?

Both hard drives are internal. I have the OS and ITCH running on the main SSD and the music on a regular internal hard drive.

I'll have to test to see if the controller freezes up if I play music from my SSD exclusively.

I don't have any other USB devices plugged into my computer when I'm using ITCH (besides the ITCH controller of course).

I do use this same laptop with Scatch Live twice a week and don't have any problems with it.

Ok cool, let me know how it goes with testing on the same drive.

Its a bit hard to compare Scratch Live and ITCH, because the ITCH controller needs to communicate with the software as well as stream audio. Do you use any MIDI device/controllers when using Scratch Live? What Rane interface do you have?

Yeah, I figured it was comparing apple to oranges when comparing ITCH to Scratch Live. I don't use any MIDI device when using Scratch Live. When using Scratch Live, I connect to the Rane TTM57-SL mixer.

I see, in that case there a lot less MIDI messages being sent and interpreted with Scratch Live when compared to ITCH.

Martin C, for months I have the problem and no one has solved it yet, I have opened the post but found no solution. We tried everything and as I said in my post the HC5000 works perfect with Virtual D!j but ITCH freezes.
