I had an issue with my Denon DN-HC1000S controller,not too long ago. I updated to Version 2.2.3 and it was fixed. I purchased the VL-SL 1.2 and Downloaded the package from the main page.(Not sure if thats where I was supposed to get it.) I started to install it and it tried to load another version of Scratch Live on my PC. I stopped that and then It said my Quick Time(7.70.80.34) was not compatible and closed. My quesitons are..1. Do I have to use the packaged version of SL? I just want to be able to keep using my Denon MIDI and I tried a few other versions before and Finally got it to work with version 2.2.3 and 2. Should I delete the Quick Time thats installed on my PC, and load the "packaged" version that comes with the Video VL-SL 1.2? Thanks ahead for any help in getting me straight.

Hi thedjpurplehaze,

Sorry to hear your having problems with Video-SL. Lets get them sorted.

As far as the Video-SL installer that you downloaded the Scratch Live version bundled with the installer is 2.0. You do NOT need to install this if you already have a version of Scratch Live installed.

If your using video I would reccommend using Scratch Live version 2.3.3 as you are. Be aware that metadata created in Scratch Live 2.3.3 is NOT backwards compatible.
Scratch Live 2.3.3 includes the refactoring of the MP4 TAG LIB which has resolved a number of bugs related to MP4 files.

Have you installed the reccommended codec packages for running Video-SL on a Windows laptop using DirectShow as the Default dcoder ?

We recommend using both of the following codecs for DirectShow for use with Video-SL:

* FFDShow www.free-codecs.com
* Haali Media Splitter (MatroskaSplitter) haali.su

Use the defaults when installing.

Note: If no codec is found, then QuickTime will be used to decode the video.

We have created registry scripts that will force your laptop to use QuickTime or DirectShow as the Default decoder. These can be found in the "How can I use QuickTime as the default decoder for Video-SL on Windows?" section of the getting started guide: sera.to

Also, if you could detail your full computer specs including the graphics card that is installed this will assist us in troubleshooting your problem more acurately.

Let me know how you get on and we'll take it from there.

Hi thedjpurplehaze,

No problem, you can check the details of your graphics card by;

Control Panel>Device Manager>Display Adapters> ( Graphics card details )

You could also have a look at this Computer Optimization Guide; sera.to

@thedjpurplehaze - I have the Denon DN-HC1000. I had issue with it crashing serato. If you go to Denon web site and if your controller is registered with them there is a update you can do that will help. Its been awhile so I don't remember the process, but all you do is plug the MIDI into your computer, download the file from Denon, open up file, it'll show you what butttons to push to open controller window, then drag and drop file into the MIDI. Sounds like a pain, but it took all of 45 secs to do. No problems since. I had 2.0 at the time, and I'm now using 2.3.3 with no issues.

Just wanted to say I'm good to go thus far. Now I have alot of trial and error on the video mixing...haha. Thanks for ALL the help! What I had to do to get my Video working was: un-install my version of quicktime and also NOT, select the packaged version of serato. As my version is working with my system(Windows7 & serato 2.3.3). TO DJ Unforgiven, I didn't need to use your advise as my controller has been working since I updated my program to 2.3.3. Thanks anyways tho. This version seems to have fixed all of my bugs. I guess this can be closed now.
