I have a stupid question. I just bought Video SL. I will be using it mostly with my NS6 staring in March. Till then I am going to use my DJM800. I am buying the Maudio Uno USB to MIDI cable today. If I map the crossfader to control the crossfader in Serato Video, will that mess up the audio on the fader on the 800? Meaning... Am I gonna screw up my mixer crossfader for audio? Do I have to create a new Midi folder for this? I have Mapped settings for my Kontrol X1 and for my Dicers. Im not that great with MIDI mapping stuff and just want to be able to use my crossfader to control my audio and video at the same time. Thanks guys!!!

You'll be fine.

Click, assign, done.

The audio path of the mixer will not be affected in any way.

And you can just add it to your existing mapping, no need to change anything with your other devices.

Cool brother!!! Sucks using the mouse to fade back and forth... you need 3 arms to do it like that. Lol

Thanks again!!!

Glad to help.

Note that almost every control on the 800 is mappable, so any spare knobs or faders you don't use can be assigned to SSL or VSL.

Also note that every 800 in the world has the same fixed midi messages so you can create your setup and use it on any 800 you come across in the clubs.

It will be fine i use that set up everyweek and use a djm 2000 twice a week and once its assigned there will be no probs i asssigned mine once and use all mixers djm700 djm800 dmj 2000 and dont need to change anything :-)
phatbob 12:57 PM - 21 January, 2012
That's good to know about the 2000, Matty, I have a 700 so knew that was the same, but wasn't sure about the 2000.

I wonder about the 900... Might download the manual and see...

Tbh i think the midi code for crossfader is the same across all the pioneer mixers i think :-)

correct, 700, 800, 900 & 2000 can all crossfade video. The 700 needs the midi usb cable tho. Not sure bout the 800 if it needs a cable.
Dj matty k 8:15 PM - 22 January, 2012
Yeah 800 needs one i use a djm800 once a week :-)

Ok so.... I mapped out the fader on my 800. It worked but Serato went nuts. My decks were playing super fast. Loops were engaging. Everything went crazy. I noticed when I moved my faders on the 800 it was triggering things in serato like my pitch bends. So I had to make a new MIDI setting in the setup and now it works. Can I use two-three controllers at once? It would be nice if I can use my Dicers, Kontrol X1 and the 800.
phatbob 12:56 PM - 23 January, 2012
Your X1 is outputting on the same midi channel as the 800.

Change the midi channel in the X1 control editor.

You'll have to remap your X1 I'm afraid.

But then it will work.

it's supposed to control audio/video as well. When I map my 700 it controls the audio as well as video..when down the video is faded(blacked out) when up the video is displayed

u may be using a midi controller. As far as i know mapping the channel faders controls audio and video.

1 thing to note. there are only so many MIDI controls signals so sometime you need to change the channel the MIDI is coming in on. I keep a text file on my desktop reminding what channels i need each different mixer set to when i play on it. I run a ton on midi controllers and found out the hard way when 2 different controls are on the same channel. Nothing like clicking the cue button and having a loop engage to freak you out and wonder whats going on. A lot of cheap MIDI controllers cant change from CH1 so i would set your 800 to something else. :)
Heres what my text file looks like :)

No need to get a USB to MIDI cable waist of $$$ go on serato set up the click the tab playback and "un check" the option (playback shift use keys) then go to the plugins click on Video SL then check (use cursor keys to fade video) meaning the right and left arrows on your keyboard will control the faders. @Jroc

I would call anything above and including 2.2.2. a newer version.
