Serato Video General Discussion

Talk about Serato Video and Video-SL.

Is the latest SL safe for video

Kedar 4:06 AM - 30 December, 2011
Although I'm using ME for video anyways and not VSL, I had been advised many times on this forum to hold off updating the SL software. Accordingly, I'm still on 2.0.0 build 49

... with the latest 2.3.3, is it safe now?

I would have expected a slew of people reviewing to see if it's handling video files, .mp4 tags, video file to mp3 associations, etc.

What's the word? (and don't say it's bird...)

i'm a noob to VSL but i'm running SSL 2.3.3 and currently testing the demo of VSL and seemed to be running perfectly fine for me tonight. on top of that, i'm also using osx lion.

i'm buying the full version of VSL by saturday and plan to use it a NYE gig!

I'm using 2.3.3 and VSL as well. It was my understanding that VSL is still unstable with Lion. I'm still on Snow Leopard and not having any issues. I still haven't seen any evidence saying that VSL is 100% compatible with Lion. Bloo, I would be careful! You don't want your ish crashing on NYE. haha. If I'm incorrect someone please let me know. Thanks.

Video works perfectly fine with Lion. Been using it for a month and a half. What DOESN'T work fine with video is 2.3.3 I've had it crash 4 times in 4 gigs since updating. Stick with 2.2

good looking out. maybe i'll be downgrade to 2.2 and continue tonight to test.

been using the new 2.3.3 with video since it cameout. works good except my effects on my midi controller wont work sometimes. its a known bug.

2.3.3 is the most stable version in the 2.x.x if you are having issues then start a help thread.

2.2 has a bug that doubles your file size.

2.3.3 rock solid best version yet (Yes there is a bug in 2.3.3 for the DJ-FX)

Read the release notes and you will see ALOT of work has gone into 2.3.3 for video use.

I tested 2.3.3 for about a week before my New Years gig and it ran smoothly. Glad to say i ran VSL nearly 8 hours straight without any hiccups. NONE!!! And i'm running Windows 7.

I've been using 2.2 for many months with ME, and haven't seen anything like that (I would think it hard to miss).

What exactly are you referring to?

If you're using a slow external drive .. Stick with 2.0 lol ... Flawless for me ... Regarding auto gain issues.. Watch your levels is all

On my 2010 i7 MacBook pro I can't use ANYTHING but 2.0 (FireWire, internal drive, USB 2.0 drives)... Doesnt matter if it's 5400 or 7200 RPM .. And this is on Snow Leopard with MixEmergency no less. I'm never upgrading as its been flawless on 2.0. Ever since the bridge was supported on some level it's been pure hell on my MBP

Used latest SL & VSL with Lion on a new Macbook pro this past new year's eve. Spinned for over six hours without a problem.

2.3.3 is rock solid for me and I play at least 6hrs in a club every single weekend. I did have to deal with all the files the earlier version fucked up, but this is by far the most stable release on my PC laptop!

2.2 has been rock solid running VSL, I did have a problem with 2.3 first version so I reverted back to 2.2 with no issues. Though I will probably update to 2.3.3 this week since I don't have to DJ this weekend so i can test it all this week and next. Though I am still on snow leopard.
