It is installed and enabled in set up but does not show in the interface. I only get a blank grey bar.
Also the video output window appears but has a "not responding" message on it. All other plug-in interfaces show correctly SP6, DJFX etc.
Also why does VSL setup install SL 2.0 when I already have 2.33 installed?
My computer is running windows 7 ultimate 64 bit
cpu is an i7 2600 chip
graphics card is a Nvidia GTX560Ti connected to an HDTV via HDMI cable
ram 8 gb
2 tb hd

Hi Nvzable1,

Sorry to hear your having issues with your Video-SL. Lets get them sorted.

I suggest that you remove both applications Scratch Live and Video-SL and re-install them again. Can you tell me which version of Video-SL it is that you have installed ? Is it from the install CD or downloaded from Serato.com ?
When you install Video-SL and it gives you the option to install Scratch Live and Video-SL and QuickTime only check the Video-SL box and untick the others if these are already installed then it won't install Scratch Live 2.0.

Do you have the recommended codec packages installed ?

We recommend using both of the following codecs for DirectShow for use with Video-SL:

* FFDShow www.free-codecs.com
* Haali Media Splitter (MatroskaSplitter) haali.su

Use the defaults when installing.

Note: If no codec is found, then QuickTime will be used to decode the video.

I suggest you download and install these codec packages and let me know if performance improves. Also, make sure your graphics card drivers are up to date and optimized for best performance.

Try these couple of tweaks and let me know if the Plug-in appears.

Hi AnthonyS,
Thanks for the quick response.
I have added the codecs, updated all drivers, re-installed both programs and still I get the same result. No VSL.
It is SL 2.33 with VSL 2.1 downloaded from Serato.com.
I even re-downloaded it just in case I got a corrupt file some way. Still nothing.
I have a working combination on my laptop that is running Windows Vista.
On it I have SL 2.1.1 (21122) and VSL 2.1 and it seems to be working.
This is in demo mode also just to be clear.
I tried using the same combo on the computer but to no avail.
I would like to update SL on the laptop to the latest version but I am afraid it might mess things up.
My laptop has a Nvidia Geforce Go 7900GS,
intel T7200 core 2 duo 2,0 ghz
4gb ram

Hi Nvzable1,

Sorry to hear your still having this issue, it is odd...

Are you the Administrator on this laptop ?

I just noticed the graphics card you detail at the top is different from the one you detail in this last post.

What you could do is delete the preference file from your registry and then reinstall Video-SL.

1) Type: 'regedit' into the searchfield at the bottom of the start menu. Click Enter and continue.
2) Click on the arrow next to HKEY_CURRENT_USER to open folders
3) Click on the arrow next to software to open folders
4) Click on the arrow next to Serato to open the folders
5) Select and delete the Scratch Video folder.

Now close out of the registry and reinstall Video-SL

Let me know how it goes and if you have any further questions.

The problem is with the computer in the first post with the Nvidia GTX560Ti graphics card.
I only mentioned the laptop because VSL works on that system.
Although it blanks out at times; but that's another issue for another time. lol
I really need this to work on my computer.
I am the administrator on both systems. I deleted the registry entry and re-installed VSL,
still no love. It's doing the exact same thing

Hi Nvzable1,

Ok, it sounds like Scratch Live is unable to find the Plug-in in your Common files folder.

Can you check that the ScratchVideoPlugin is installed in the correct place.

It should reside in Program Files (86)>Common Files>Serato>Plugin>ScratchVideoPlugin

If the plugin is not installed in the correct directory then Scratch Live will not be able open it. We may have to do this manually.

The plugin is installed in the right place. Still the same issue.

Hi Nvzable1,

Do you have any Windows background themes running on your laptop ?

Can you try turning Windows 'Aero' OFF and set the background theme to Windows classic or Windows basic. This has been an issue with another user I have been helping recently.
Nvzable1 12:16 AM - 15 February, 2012
Still the same problem with aero turned off and in classic mode.

Hi Nvzable1,

OK, this iss odd.

Are you still running the demo version ?

With Scratch Live closed.

The next option would be to rename the ScratchLIVE1.0 folder in regedit.
5) Select and rename the ScratchLIVE1.0 folder. ScratchLIVE1.0 old

You may loose some of the other Scratch Live prefs but the original folder wil still be available if need be.

Now re-open scratch Live.

Hey Anthony,
I am happy to inform you that I have figured out what the problem is. I have Bitdefender Total Security 2012 on all of my computers. For some reason, on just this one computer Bitdefender's realtime virus control was blocking VSL exe. The file was not in quarrantine nor did Bitdefender (BD) show any sign that it was actually blocking the file. I scanned the file with BD and it showed no infection. I even deleted and re-downloaded the file but it was still blocked. The only reason I figured this out was because I decided to try and run VSL with BD turned off. I had no reason to suspect BD as the culprit because I have it on four different computers and the other computers did not block VSL. I still do not know why VSL is being blocked on this one. I had to put VSL in the "excluded processes" list in order to keep it from being blocked. It is the only file in there. lol. Do you know of any issues with BD picking up the VSL process as a false positive?
For anyone else that might be reading this post with the same problem; VSL has to be added to the "excluded processes" list, not the "excluded file and folders" list. It will not work otherwise. I guess BD doesn't have a problem with the file, just with what happens when it opens. Now that it is finally working I am ready to buy. Is it possible to still get it for $99.00?
Thanks alot for all of your help and quick responses concerning this madness it was greatly appreciated.

Hi Nvzable1,

WOW, thanks for the information here. I haven't heard of this happening before but there has been issues in the past with Norton.

Let me know if you have any further questions regarding Video-SL if not I will close this thread.
