Hello,
I purchased the NS6 the very day it came out. I had a old Dell laptop that I was using that was just under specs and would lag every so often, so I decided to buy a new computer that would be over recommendation for DJ-ING and producing music. With the Dell laptop, i was receiving "pops" in recording, even when i turned the record knob less then "noon" or even when it was barely even up. I looked for a limiter light but never got it. However, when listening to the recording there would be random intervals of several "pops." With this, i was more eager to buy a better laptop.
So I purchased a Acer Aspire 7741G-6426
Specs: Intel Core i5-480M 2.66 GHz with Turbo Boost up to 2.93 GHz
Radeon HD 6550M
4 GB DDR3 Memory
640 GB HDD
With these specs, they are more then enough to run my NS6 and itch. When I got my laptop i installed everything correctly and i was still having the same "pops" and also dropouts (when i mean drop outs, i mean that i will be playing a track or two and then everything will freeze, audio stops, then resumes anywhere from 1-10 seconds at a a time). Figuring that this was probably an issue with the laptop because i wasn't experiencing as severe dropouts with my old Dell laptop, I sent in my laptop for repair. The hard drive and operating system was replaced and I stopped experiencing dropouts, awesome right? No.
There was still another huge issue, my NS6 would run from anywhere to 5-30 minutes no problem. But anywhere in that time period, it would start to act up. It almost sounded as if my Crusher, Echo, Reverb, and LPF all activated at the same time. This would happen SO randomly, even if i was just LISTENING to one track at a time. I sent in my NS6 to see if it was a problem with the hardware, they replaced the mixer because there was a defect and STILL I am experiencing the same problem.
I followed ALL the optimization guides and bought a new mouse. I have done everything in my power to fix this issue and there is still no end in sight. I have been desperately trying to fix this issue so I can continue to pay my bills with my gigs that I have. So far i have had to hit up every single one of my DJ friends to borrow their gear and it's no a problem that i was looking to encounter after dropping 1,000 dollars on this NS6.
Help would be GREATLY appreciated, if you are having this problem also feel free to comment below!

Also to add, i have bought a new USB high performance cable also, with still no avail. Uninstalled and reinstalled all version of Itch and also tried using the NS6 itch CD without updating. Changed all latency settings. I honestly have tried almost everything.

Hi ToxicTouch,
very sorry to hear you're having problems and thanks for covering most things here before we had to even ask any questions. From what I can see on the DPC report, it's mainly Network Connections are running high here.
For networks:
Windows 7:
1) Go to Control Panel
2) Open Network and Sharing Center
3) Open 'Manage wireless networks'
4) Right click on your connections to disable the Wireless Network Connection and any wired connections.
This is to do with TCP/IP (en.wikipedia.org) and internet connection ->www.file.net
* Try disabling the network card.
Let us know how those go

After a lot of testing and seeing if i could get anything to mess up the only thing i have encountered now is drop outs. Left my NS6 playing for 6 hours straight, came back and nothing weird.
With or without the internet off seems to not have any affect on if this problem happens again. However i keep the internet off anytime I DJ.
I am still having a problem with dropouts. I did an event and i had 4 drop outs in a 4 hour event. Each were at random times. This is the biggest issue right now seeing as you can't have drop outs while people are on the dance floor.

Indeed, I understand fully.
Try moving your usb buffer in the setup screen to the right (try a couple of notches first and keep going if you continue to experience dropouts)

Im having similar issues, i bought my NS6 in early July and everything has been working fine until about a couple days ago where i started to hear this odd static noise. i thought it was because i had simply been using it for too long so i shut everything down and left it there for a bit. Today i got back on my NS6 to start up a mix but it was odd because about 30sec -1 min i heard this loud, spiking static noise. It sounded as if paper where being crashed and torn. I tried with ITCH 1.7 and ITCH 2 still the same problem i feel as if it is a internal problem. Please help me, thank you !

I bought mine about 4 or 5 months ago and have only used it about 7 or 8 times. On Wednesday for the 1st time I noticed a popping and static sound only when I use the Phaser effect. The popping sound usually happens on a snare or a hi hat hit and the static happens randomly. But only in the phaser effect. All my other effects are fine. This is the reason I don't buy things the 1st year they come out cuz I feel like a guniea pig.I like for most of the bugs to be worked out 1st but I love this unit and want to make it my main mixer but stuff like this makes it hard to let go of my VCI-300.Help please!!

What's your power source for the NS6 hooked up to ToxicTouch, is it a multibox or close to other appliances that have high power requirements, and does it happen in various locations?
Are you using any other usb items or running a usb hub?

Well, I have used a "fuse box" inbetween the wall outlet and the power adapter for the NS6. I also tried putting the NS6 on a power strip and all by itself. I have also tried many outlets. It has happened in every location.
Nope, I even stopped using and removed the logitech wireless mouse drivers and switched to a microsoft wired mouse.

Many apologies for this, it must have slipped through, and with the holidays combined provided extra delay.
Lets try Power Management as well: (From the DPC Trace Report)
ACPI.sys (Power management)
If you have USB dropouts and are having trouble finding a cause on a seemingly powerful machine, check if your computer is ACPI by opening the device manager:
1. Go to control panel
2. Click system
3. Click the hardware tab
4. Click device manager
5. Click the [+] next to Computer
6. If you see "ACPI uniprocessor PC" or similar, you have ACPI.
Quick method for disabling ACPI power management on some laptops
Try taking your battery out and just run off the power supply, this stops ACPI from trying to manage the battery on some model laptops.

Hey man I have the same computer and mine works fine. I had popping issues when I recorded things but got it fixed now. If you still need help, post and let me know. I'm not good at going over things in discussion forums but I may be able to talk you through it on messenger or facebook.

actually the guy who posted before me had a good idea. If you can understand what i am saying, it is your latency on your computer. Itch is working fine. I have to admitt your acer has more problems then mine had. When I Djed a few parties I had some static that came in but it was only once during a few sets it did not happen at all my parites. there is a latency program that will monitor it for you, dpc latency checker. follow the instructions and it will help you go to the process. oh make sure you disable the acpi-complant control method battery. it causes a lot of latency issues. I tried to find a driver for it but could not.

I purchase the NS6 this past December, i've had it a month. I hadn't used it at a gig yet, I wanted to play wtih it before I use it at an gig to get the feel of it. I've got several dropouts at home. At a gig I can't have that. People are funny they want the music to keep going. The saleman told me this was a good product. Please help me resolve this problem asap. I download the latest version Of Itch. Still the same problem. Help Me?

Yes i do have a APCI power management. I took out the battery and after 45 minutes of mixing, i got the same exact dropouts before.
Also, i have been trying to analyze MP3's on my computer and when i try and do that my serato freezes up and i have to close the program because it has encountered an "errror."
No1djkb, I will look that up tonight. If i disable the ACPI-complaint control, won't that affect my battery charging and discharging? Also, I did as mathew C said and it should've disabled the ACPI battery manager. Which leads me to believe it's not the battery.

Can we head back to the basics please:
- The NS6 platters are calibrated every time you start up
- You have the latest firmware
- It happens on all versions
- You've tried another USB port and cable
- There's nothing else plugged in (usb wise)
- Can you monitor your CPU
- Wi-fi and Bluetooth are turned off.

-Checked and firmware is up to date.
-Every version i have, including the CD the NS6 came with updated and not updated.
-Tried every single USB port and bought/tried 3 different cables.

One thing you can do here is download the offline (free) version of ScratchLive and analyze your files in there. Make sure all are analyzed before heading back to ITCH. The libraries are shared but ScratchLive has a larger memory limit.
Have you always not had all your files analyzed or are you referring to new tracks imported here?

Are you getting the limiter light come on at all? Make sure you don't run the unit into the red and get most of your volume from your amp and/or powered speakers.
Try checking your computers power settings also - I'm not sure exactly here this is on Windows machines, but you'd want it on maximum performance as apposed to any power saving type option. At this point you may want to check the computer out with a computer specialist as taking the battery out usually fixes these kind of problems.
Is your computer overheating have you noticed?

Try manually turning of the TCP/IP driver by doing this :
- Click 'Start', type in 'Run', select 'Run'
- Type in 'Services.msc' and click 'Okay'
- Scroll down until you see TCP/IP, right-click and select 'Stop'
Note : You will need to 'Start' it again to use internet.
*Also, through Device Manager - try updating your usb port drivers.
Have you got anything running on your usb ports apart from the NS6? Apologies if I already asked that, this thread is quite long.
Can you please run a new DPC trace report so we can compare it against the old one.

I understand your position entirely, and I'll admit it's a tough one. A refund would depend on the retailer you purchased it from, and what their returns policy is.

I know that "these issues," which aren't even supposed to be issues, take time to resolve. But you have to understand that when it's how I generate income to pay bills, troubleshooting something that was supposed to work after installing drivers, and buying a computer JUST for the NS6 is money down the drain and a plug on my income.
Anyways.
I have manually turned off the TCP/IP (internet)
I have and all my USB port drivers are up to date.
Yes you have. No, I don't run anything else through my USB ports.

@ ToxicTouch. I opened a similar thread. I just posted a brief "rant", myself... Although in the past month i tried this Optimization Script from DJTechtools.com, and so far, so good.
No distortion/crackles/pops/static playing for hours.
Not to say this is a total fix, but if you haven't already, give it a shot. I'm curious myself to see if has/will work for someone else.
Trust me, i'm totally with you on this one. I would turn down gigs in fear of the shit messing up in the middle of a set. I've run my PC for two yrs on the same config, and two other controllers. Now a spend a stack on this beautiful Numark beast of mixer, and I gotta worry if it's gonna work half the time.
And I'm not about to go spend twice as much on a Mac.
