Hi Cisco El Nino,
Firstly, have you removed all corrupt files from your Serato Library ?
Is it possible that your laptop overheated ? You can download iSTAT NANO here: www.islayer.com this will give you an updated analysis of your system, resources and temperature. Useful little tool.
Could you please give me more detail on your computer specs, processor, ram, video card and hard drives.
Could you also check the version number and build number (5 digits next to version no ) of Scratch Live that you are using ?
Also make sure that Airport, Scheduled Tasks and sleep mode are all turned off when you're gigging.
Let me know these couple of details and we'll take it from there.

all my corrupt files have been removed previous to this event.
my mac is a macbook pro 15", MacBookPro2,2. Core 2 Duo 2.33GHz. with 3gb of RAM, My Video Card is an ATY, RadeonX1600 with 256 MB. My Hard Drive is an internal 1tb, SAMSUNG HM100UI formated as Journaled HFS+.
I am using SSL 2.2.0 (22033)
and while gigging i do have the above shut off. It weird, its the first time ever this has happened; however, this is the first time, i started using my .mp3's and associating videos with them. Could that be the cause?
also i just remembered Perian just updated too about a week ago
Thanks!

Hi Cisco El Nino,
Ok, it may be a video association bug. Can you recall using any of your 'associated' .mp3 files in your set before the hang happened ?
The video card you are using isn't the highest performing card.
Do you think there is a possibility that your laptop overheated ?

I doubt its an overheating issue, ive done longer sets, in the same place. i used quite a few associated files too previous to the error.
on another note, i just looked at my history in serato, and saw where i had to use automatic doubles to make another video play on the right deck.
and I just tried playing the video file (without my ttm57 plugged in) which made video-sl not play on the left deck. I analyzed the file and it comes up with no errors. i can send you the file if you would like, but it seems like the file is the culprit. Once i closed serato, and had to force quit video-sl, i reopened serato, and clicked the video-sl button, and tried another file, it then played the video files fine again, then i opened the problem file, and from there no more videos played just the audio.

Hi Cisco El Nino,
If you could upload the problem file that would be appreciated.
Good to hear you found the culprit.

Here is the link to the file
www.mediafire.com
please let me know if you get similar results. it seems to crash just the video-sl plug-in.

Hi Cisco El Nino,
I will have a look at the file and let you know if there is anything obvious that could be causing the hang.

Hi Cisco El Nino,
I tested the file on a couple of versions of Scratch Live and had varying results but at the end of the day that file is corrupt.
At around 1:42 into the track the vision freezes and goes blocky for about 30 seconds. Unsure why the file doesn't show as corrupt in Scratch Live.
This must have happened when the file was ripped from its source.

do you have any suggestions, on what i can do so this doesnt happen again. or another program i can use that can analyze all my mp4's. im just afraid some of my other files that do not appear as corrupt, then cause video-sl to crash. or something i can do to keep some sort of video playing while i force quit video-sl and reopen. if not, no worries, i can just keep the background of my comp, the logo of where im djing, and use an ipod.

Hi Cisco El Nino,
As far as any other programs the only thing I will suggest at this stage is that you use Handbrake with the Video-SL preset to conform your .MP4s.
That file was corrupt and it sounds like your .MP3 video associations were working prior to crashing which is a good sign. There are third party programs like Media Rage that you can do all your tagging etc but Scratch Live has its own Tag writing in regards to what you will see in the library view.
Scratch Live version 2.3 is very close to release and may be an option for you in the near future.
Let me know how you get on and if you have any further questions.
