Product: video-sl
Version: 1.2_2.0
Hardware: rane-ttm57sl
Computer: pc
OS Version: win764
---
Round 7 here we go:
Computer Specs
Intel Core i7 q720 @1.6ghz
6 gb DDR3 Ram
1 tb internal SATA Hard Drive @5200rpm 3gb/s (Audio and Videos)
500 GB internal SATA hard drive @7200rpm 6gb/s (Windows and programs)
1 gb ATI Radeon HD 5450 Graphics Card
Dell Studio 1558
Windows 7 64 Bit
-- Serato 2.0
-- Video SL 1.2
-- Quicktime decoder & Directshow 7/14/2011 with Matroskasplitter 03/2011
Video Files are all mp4 (H264 etc) -- Primarily SmashVidz and 8thwonder promo
Here's the problem:
--- I finally figured out my lag problem, it was my external hard drive trying to transfer over to USB and it wasn't fast enough. Now, I am getting some wild video tearing no matter what I try. I've enabled V-sync on my graphics card and followed all of the windows performance tweaks and tried every setting every way. I also tried doing the OPEN GL Extension viewer and disabling the Yb22 (or whatever that drop down arrow is) for Quicktime and I'm still getting these errors. I'm to the point where I'm just going to reformat and pray that it works without installing directshow or Matroskasplitter but I really need to know what I may be doing wrong before all of that. I'm loosing money fast because Video has never worked properly, and when it did work properly, I was having transfer speed problems that were my fault.
Any help would be appreciated (I am not upgrading to any newer version of serato because all that does is put a bunch of stuff in my registry that causes USB drop outs on my computer and makes my problem worse)

Hi DJ JP2011 ,
If you could give me a little more detail on a couple of things we will try and sort out the issue.
Are you using CDJ's or Turntables with your Rane TTM 57SL ? Have they been calibrated for Serato Scratch Live ? You can view a couple of videos in regards to 'Optimizing your Windows 7 Laptop for Audio and Music Production"
See here:
Part 1: ---> www.youtube.com view
Part 2: ---> www.youtube.com view
These will help with Video-SL - but this will not solve the dropout issues.
Your issue could be related to the known 'i series processors' not supporting USB 1.1 devices properly. We are still working with Microsoft on a solution for USB 1.1 devices with Windows based computers.
In the meantime Scratch Live 2.2 contains a workaround driver for this problem.
Have you updated you USB Drivers for your laptop ?
'Troubleshoot USB Dropouts/Audio Glitches for Windows' article can be found
here: sera.to
Your Internal Hard Drive where your Audio and Video is stored is a slower 5200rpm drive which may be a problem in regards to video playback.
You will need the recommended Directshow codecs installed on your computer for Video-SL to decode your videos correctly. See here: sera.to
What are your performance settings in Video-SL Setup ? Are V-Sync and Frame Blending activetd in your Video-SL Setup ?
Do the videos that you have downloaded play fine in other applications ?
Can you upload one of your problem .MP4 files so I can Have a look at it.
I would recommend updating to a latter version of Scratch Live such as 2.2.2.
Let me know how you get on and we'll take it from there.

any version higher than 2.0 caused USB drop outs #intelcorei7 drivers... At this point, the problem lies solely in the ATI Graphics drivers for the Radeon Mobility HD 5450 that comes installed on the Dell Studio 1558. --- I, like an idiot, upgraded graphics drivers and have reformatted and reinstalled different drivers but have yet to find the last good known configuration. Video-SL worked all last night for 6 hours until the end of the night, but luckily the projecter was retracted into the wall so nobody cared, but it's one of those things that switching to MAC would make things a lot easier because I am the only PC in my area running video. I am sorry to waste your time, but you guys do a lot of good work and I hope to have less problems when I make the switch. The technology is moving too fast for the consumer and all's it is doing is making more work on you guys.
