Hi Team,

I know this is known issue, but I've read posts on just certain files doing this. All my .mp4 are analyzed everytime I shut down serato and restart and hit analyze. All my .mp4 are internal and I don't use an exteranal drive. Could I be missing something within my setups?

Also, I have tagged many mp3s with video files and have played them. Then the next time I come back into Serato, the video tag does not show the video anymore even though it shows that it is highlighted with a tagged video... Is this problem connected to the re-analyzed everytime? Is there a work around for this issue. (btw, not every tagged mp3 does this but about 30-40% does)

Thank you for your time

Are you using iTunes for your video storage, or folders on your internal hard drive? Sounds like a read/write issue for the folder where your store your files and/or the files themselves.

Hi kidjay,

So you'e re-analyzing your library every time you open Serato Scratch Live ? This must be done while your Rane Hardware is unplugged and then connect the TTM 57SL USB cable.

It isn't necessary to re-analyze all of your files every time you open Scratch Live. As carter has suggested it may be a read/write security permission problem. If you do use Itunes for your library archive and you import your music into the Itunes library when analyzing your files in Scratch Live you can arrange your 'All' crate into date added and only select your most recently added music files to be analyzed.
As far as the .mp3 loosing its link with the video file this problem usually occurs if the file path of one of the files has changed.
It may be a corrupt Database file which can be rebuilt if necessary, details on this can be found here: sera.to

Let me know how you get on and if you have any further questions.

* yes, I do use itunes to store the videos internally
* No I don't re-analyze every time I open scratch live, but I do an analyze everytime I add something new to my library which is a couple times a week. (Will try your suggestion to select the most recent added files to be analyzed.... Didn't know it could be done like this)
* Any suggestions for the possible read/write issue or all the .mp4 being re-analyzed?
*I've already followed the instructions for the corrupt database. But I'm still having a problem. I've actually have had this problem for a few years now and have ask for help before with no defitnite solution. Like I said before it only happens when I re-analyze all the files again. So I think there is a possible relation????

btw, I did the all and selected the add colum and there are about 50 videos (.mp4) that are dated 7-12-11. These videos have been analyzed numerous times?

Hi kidjay,

Are you using Scratch Live 2.2.0 or 2.2.2 ?
You could update to 2.2.2 if your not already using this version it was released for the SL 2 and SL 4 but has other fixes in it also.
It sounds like Scratch Live may not be writing Tags to your .MP4 files for some reason.

A good way to check if you have read/write permissions for your .MP4 files would be to:
1) Load an .MP4 to one of your virtual decks.
2) Add Cue points to the .MP4 file.
3) Close Scratch Live and then Open Scratch Live.
4) Load the same .MP4 file and check if your Cue points have been saved to the file.

If it is Read/Write permissions we will have to have a look at the folder and directory where your .MP4 files are saved.

Let me know how this goes and we'll take it from there.

I'm using 2.2.0 (22033) Can you forward me the link to download 2.2.2 I can't seem to find it.

So last night I did some tagging and untagging. And today some of my work was gone (not all, but some???) I made sure my work was saved before shutting down as well.

I just did your suggestion on two .mp4 and they both worked when I open SL again. Is there a chance that my read/write permissions can be on some files and off on other files? Is there a way to make sure everything is set properly in read/write?

Hi kidjay,

Can you upload one of the problem .MP4 files to this help thread.
Are your .MP4 files all encoded the same ? What encoding software are you using ?

You can download Scratch Live 2.2.2 here: sera.to

You can check the read/write properties of your files or folders. File/Folder>Get Info>Sharing and permissions.

Let me know how you get on

* attached is a .mp3 that had a video attached to it. When I re-analyzed all my video the video on this .mp3 is no longer attached. It still shows that there is a video attached but the video is blank.

*I get my .mp4 from different sources. I don't encode my videos. When I have encoded videos I either use pinnicle or handbrake to create .mp4 then bring them over to my mac/itunes

* That download links only takes me to 2.2.0 (22033) That is currently what I'm on now.

Hi kidjay ,

The link is to 'Scratch Live for Rane SL 2 and SL 4', this is version 2.2.2

I was looking for you to upload one of your problem .MP4 files not .MP3

Have you installed Perian ? Also the Video-SL Preset for Handbrake which can be found on this page: sera.to

And your positive that no file paths or names have been changed in your directory ?

Try upgrading to 2.2.2 and let me know how that goes.
kidjay 6:36 PM - 16 July, 2011
I just loaded 2.2.2... let me test that version this week and get back to you.

I've never used Perian, Is there a PC version of Perian and the preset for handbrake on a PC? I do most of my work on my main PC at home and then transfer my work over to the macbook to play.
