When I enable the "Scratch" button on the NS6 it works fine at first then randomly will stop scratching and start pitch bending. Not sure if it didnt calibrate properly, and I also did the firmware update already.

I have a similar configuration to the OP (except I have MacOS 10.6.7), but I have the converse problem. I will have scratch OFF, and then when I move a platter for the first time on that deck, it will act like I was trying to scratch briefly, causing a lot of distress as you might imagine. However, then it works fine.

Does the NS6 have a record option? Can I record my mixes like we do in Serato???

@CHICAGO KID -- That is a basic feature in ITCH. It is a button you have to press on the UI with your mouse (or there's a hotkey for it, forget what, use the popup help in ITCH by pressing ?).
Everyone else--
I suspect in my case it might be a bad USB connection. I've tried everything else, including increasing USB buffer size (to maximum) to decreasing display update speed.
One thing I noticed tonight when the problem popped up again was that it always seemed to happen if I touched the console in a firm way--such as punching the layer button or moving a platter. Then I had both the unwanted scratch effect AND the malfunctioning xfader assign switches.
I had similar (but different) malfunctions occurring on a different ITCH console and I addressed them by making sure the cables were securely seated. The cable supplied with the NS6 fits poorly on the NS6 side. I'm going to test out my theory with a known good cable.

OK, I retract my part of the bug report. This is actually autosync working as designed on the NS6. It's behaving in a way different than I am used to on the VCI-300, but now that I understand it I think I can avoid future mishaps. Thanks for your patience.

The platters are touch sensitive and require an "initial" touch before operation to "calibrate" the current environment. Are you leaving your fingers on the platter somehow?

Nope. I posted about this in another thread, but apparently whether you are in autosync (green box) OR autotempo (yellow box) mode, the inside and outside channels are "fate-linked" if you use the platters. That is to say, any motion of the platter on the inside channel is instantly applied when you switch to the outside channel and vice versa.
(This doesn't apply across decks.)
Therefore, if you're using both an outside and inside channel, you shouldn't use the platter to nudge, you should use the pitch bend buttons. I've been using the VCI-300 for upwards of a year and that's how I nudged on that. It'll take some getting used to and look less cool, but that's the way Numark and Serato designed it, so I'll cope.
I DO wish it were a feature I could disable, because all it does is (bleep) me off.

Kind've already mentioned by Kittmaster, I noticed the NS6 *requires* the touch on the top of the platter in order to activate the scratch; if you touch on the side it still does the pitch bend even with 'scratch' activated.
That being said, it sometimes doesn't activate scratch instantly for me for some reason, but i haven't gone through the calibration yet.

Im happy to say that the issue has been fixed. Here's the scoop. I had not received the odyssey case yet so I had my NS6 on a piano stand, turns out for the touch sensitivity to work properly the NS6 should be on a flat surface. I got my case put the NS6 in it, laid it on the piano stand and VOILA problem solved..

I had to return my ns6 for another one because usb cable doesnt stay in right. Is this a problem other people have had?

The cable that shipped with my unit fit poorly, but that's normal with gadgets like this. A high-quality cable fits brilliantly.

I tried a good cable and same thing. Looks like its the actual plug in the unit not the cord. The plug in unit is really loose

Yeah, that's definitely a good time to return it!

Hey hobredwing05,
I'm sorry for such a slow response in this thread. Seems like you are all good now though?
Sam.
