Well I hate to be a stick in the mud or maybe this is something that I need to adjust in the buffers or something, But I notice that my waveform are lagging, but that doesn't effect the video's performance, but it wasn't going that before.. I'll try to adjust the buffer and see what Happens.. Also I see i have to Midi map my Midi controller all over again :(

I will wait till after my gig this weekend before trying it. 1.5 works fine.

make sure u have the aspect ratio set to zero. that way u can minimize or maximize ur windows however u want..

my waveforms have not ran smoothly on the gui since i got my mbp. i dont even worry about it, its has nothing to do with performance.

it never crashed for me when closing the program, because i know how to close it properly.

eject both files out of the virtual decks on ssl gui, then close 1.6, then close ssl. never ever a problem.

Thats how i close it mr. Properly! Sometimes the bugs are on the final release and not on BETAs, at least thats what i experience with ssl and vsl....

i have not tried the new release but in a previous version you could save your mappings and load them. maybe you have it saved somewhere.

I dont think i installed 1.6.1 properly. I just dragged the icon into the apps folder and clicked replace. Then i right clicked and duplicated, then put it on my desktop and click replace the old icon.

Still not good with a mac but i think i did it right lol, cant find ME 1.5 anywhere so it should be deleted.

Download it, dbl click the 1.6 icon, a window will open it the new icon for 1.6, drag that into ur apps. it should say an older version is there do u want to replace, click replace and viola. I dont think u have to drag it to ur dock, but it u do put it in ur dock and ur good to go

ya i just figured it out. I was trying when i first downloaded it but it wouldnt work. Guess i wasnt clicking on the tiny tiny part to resize.

Im going to try 1.6.1 tonight and see if it lags like crazy on my i7 mbp. If all is cool i will be stoked, if not then back to hiding all of ME and just having SSL on the screen :)

I was having the same Issue...try increasing the buffer just above 1 gig and that should make ur waves stop lagging....i think you could try it before you head out (Not saying you wouldn't) but I think it fixed my issue

i have had several people in my area tell me they have issues with running video.
so far some of it is 2.+ issues and one other thing. they needed smc fan control.

i have had no lag problems so far.
has anyone tested previous versions of ME against the current or betas to see if they is an increase in system resources use?

I use ssl 1.9.2 and ran it all night last night with no lag but i have my preview refresh on the lowest setting and i didnt mess with custom window sizes yet. Saving that for the home test.

when you have media loaded in your media bank it will take a screen shot instead of just having the quicktime symbol so you know what is in your media bank.

Hey can some one confirm this: when you use the auto fade and midi assign it, if you push the button once it will stop in the middle. Then you push it again it will move to the next video?

I get a little lag when playing normal videos. The times It gets really choppy is when I play mp3s with no video and I use one of the quartz compositions that use the mic to pick up the sound and move the display to the music. Gets a little scary when you have 2 going at the same time. Fully loaded 2010 MacBook Pro 17inch.

I MIDI-assigned my dicers to auto-fade. It doesn't stop in the middle, but instead fully transitions. Fade speed is set within Video SL's setup tab.

Video SL? On ME - you can choose the duration of the fade. Awesome Nick listened to my request to make increase the time and he added the change in 1.6. Another reason why ME rocks - people listen and impelement requests.

Hell he increase it to 32 seconds. that right there is super freaking awesome. maybe VSL 1.3 well add a auto fade feature. Oh wait there isn't a1.3 in the works. Oh well I guess thats another thing the pc'r are missing out on. Such is life!!!!!!

The fade speed is set in ME preference not VSL.

I have used 1.6.1 for a few gigs now with no problems using huge preview screens on each side of the decks :). Only small worry is everything freezes for a split second when loading some or new videos or songs, but i think thats because the files are fresh to ssl.

Where are you guys putting the Out Put window? Im trying to figure out a good spot that is easy to see and doesnt get in the way. I might go back to using the prepare window.

since i don't really need the left and right screens, i only use the output.

in vertical waveform mode, it is to the right of the wheels of the right deck next to the area displaying cue points.
in that huge empty useless gray area.

this is the way i have it setup (my irst gig with ME btw) i have left n right on each side next to the circles and the middle one i minimized it all the way and put it on top of the waveforms :) LOVE IT!!

15in screen, lower left hand corner open up "show album art" stick it right in that corner. Stole that from mr slice

i do video at 2 different spots and i have logos for each spot as visuals when i play an mp3. When 1.6 was released I only had the output window on the bottom right corner of my screen and not the preview windows to cut down on any un needed stress on the mac.
Anyways, got a obscure request, didnt have the video for it so played a mp3 of it and the logo from the other spot came up on the screens. Didnt notice until a minute into the track. I quickly switched it and looked around and the manager was looking at me like "did i just see what i thought i saw'?

Moral of the story is it might be a good idea to have the preview windows (if you have logos for different spots)

On the 17mbp I open the history window and stick the panes right over that. Gives you good size and doesnt cover up the songs. With it pinned it opens in the exact same spot everytime w/o having to move ish.

Just another look at my screen

My usual gig screen when Im not running the bridge. Kinda got use to the screens all lined up. Also helps alot from staring at the projectors. +1 on the 17 mbp's Real Estate. Waiting to be able to put more ish up on the screen that I can use.

i think if you went to separate screens, ta2, you would actually be able to get larger screens from ME.

I can but if Im not mistaking the actual vid playing tends to be smaller than the actual larger space as in size unless I missed something. You can see in the pic the left and right sides of the vid shows a gray space. The vid stays the same size but the spacing gets bigger. I can go smaller though and eliminate the space.
I will try the split screens again. I dont remember if I tried to make them bigger seperated. I could of sworn that the actual view sceens only get so big before it starts spacing.

^ i didnt think the pin would stop resize. It just pins the window in that spot on top of ssl.

Yeah you have to go to preferences and choose what view do you want for the screens :)

yea, that the pin activated kept you from resizing them.
can you test this again to confirm? if you are correct i'd like to report it to them.

tested it over and over - pin activated = no resize, no pin = yes resize

it's maybe a feature to prevent you accidentally resizing screens when attempting to move stuff around.

that's weird. i can resize them pinned and unpinned.
what version are you running?

i have Version 1.6.1 (1.6.1.01)
although, even in the beta of Version 1.6.0 (1.6.0.15) i can still pin and resize.
so even if you have the one between i don't see why they would change it back and forth.
maybe there is a setting somewhere for this.

hey i did the multiple windows and lost my rightr deck screen by accident?? anyone know how to get it back?? ive tried going back to original then back to multple but it wont show up in "multiple screen"

in the upper right corner.

the path is Mix Emergency > Window > Mix Emergency

in that screen you will see four screens with images depicting the various preview screens. click the one not blued.

or in the ME box you have 3 white dots. Left middle and right. Make sure all the dots are white

aha! what was causing the problem was that each time i tried resizing it, i would try get to the corner and when i clicked, i accidentally activated whichever app was running behind ME i.e SSL or Finder - don't know if that makes sense

you just have to make sure ME is the active application and it works fine - pinned or unpinned.

Its usually always the simplest ish that stumps you...

New Diagonal Split SE transition is sick.

Just bought ME saturday and used it that nite 1 problem i found the wavforms were glitchy in ME i cranked up the ram memory up to 2 gigs (i have the MBP i5 processor 17 inch 8 gigs of ram) and it kinda help but over all no problems,

drop the cache below one gig to make it run smoother, not up.

Live feed is cool, but depends on your webcam and the lighting in the place. There is a little lag as well but if you want to show out it is a cool plugin to do just that. I use it at weddings more so than anything.

I ran into this problem a while back. 8gb of ram = 4x2gb sticks. When I had my system running 8gb of ram in a 32bit mode, it would literally act like it was clogging up. When I replaced the ram with 2x2gb ram, it ran almost 2x better.

i need to use the livefeed as well. could be alot of fun. seeing how girls dance right next to the dj booth :)

it was just running on battery today. i usually use power cord, but runs the same way. what level do you have your memory cache set? i thought that wasn't right. i think in video you could see processor is running at 75-85 %.

i ran me all night friday, the screen lag seemed to ease up after using it for a while.
i hope video sl incorporates some of the really good parts into their new version because vsl still runs smoother on my laptop.

I do notice if I am adjusting the pitch on the techs that the waveforms tend to stutter for a second and once I stop touching the tt's (with both tracks spinning) they will eventually smooth out.

I wonder if it has to do with a refresh rate or what, my waveforms run vertical not horizontal.

nope. me only. i'm also thinking it has something to do with it being the video ram on the macbook pro 13. here are the specs.

i think both the 15 & 17 have an additional video card or more ram.
i used me effects tonight and it was jumpy on the screen, but never lagged on club screens.
i guess it's hard for me to not think something is going to happen when it looks choppy.

it does with both. i think it could have more to do with refresh rate. i've never adjusted that, is it possible?
