Grandmaster Flash - The Message.mp4 .. I checked the file with MovieBatchInfo and it says the file supports internal metadata.
That being said:
If I analyzed the file with SSL 2.0. A .OVB and .XML file is created in my metadata folder. If I delete the files and re-analyze the files come back.
I delete the .ovb and .xml files and try analyzing with SSL 2.1. Same thing, .ovb and .xml files are created. This is happening with a bunch of my MP4's.
Can someone explain what is going on and how to fix this?

I wish SL would create metadata files for my mp4 files :-( Instead it rewrites the whole mp4 files. You should be thankfull ;)

I guess I would be if it was consistent. But it only does it for some files :/

Hi djaction,
Scratch Live should write be able to write the metadata to these files. When Scratch Live tries to write to the file it tests the file header first, if this fails it can't write to the file and so will create a .xml and .ovb file instead.
Where are you getting these video files from? If you're ripping them yourself, which program are you using?
Would you be able to attach one of the video files you are having this problem with to this thread for us to look at?

Files I rip myself I have no problems with.. I use mediacoder (pc) and handbrake (mac).. :/
The ones that are giving me problems were from various pools and sites like SmashVidz and StrictlyHits.
I'll attach that grandmaster flash track. My only guess is that somewhere between 1.9.2. and 2.0 Serato corrupted the tags/metadata of some of my files..

Hi djaction,
Sorry for the delay in getting back to you.
The file you've attached does indeed have a corrupt file header, hence why Scratch Live can't write the tags to it. This would most likely be due to the way they were encoded. You could try re-encoding these videos in Handbrake, this should solve this.

Hi, djaction. Apologies for the late progress on this, but we've just found that Scratch LIVE is not currently able to read 64 bit encoded meta data from mpeg 4 files.
The 64 bit encoding will happen when the "Large file size" option is checked in Handbrake, so the simplest solution right now is to uncheck this option when encoding videos. This option is only useful for encoding massive videos that are greater than 4GB.
We'll update the preset and queue up a task to have this functionality in a future SSL.
Thanks for the bug report.
