I just purchase the Video SL and will be using it with my SL1. I'm trying to use the Video SL/text effects and the image effect., but I can't find the button that turns it on. I know how to set it up. Do I need the Rane TTm 57SL to activate it or a midi controller? Also how do I activate buttons under the video screens (Empty/Bypass)?

Hi DJ Freak G,
Once you have created a text or image effect you then need to save it, then load it to an effects slot. If you click the effects drop down box your saved text and image effects will be listed there, select them to load them. You then turn them on like you would any other effect, as you have an SL 1 this would be done using either the mouse or a MIDI controller.

I don't have a Midi Controller so I will have to use my mouse, but where is the turn on button?

Once an effect is loaded it is turned on :) You then use the effect parameter knob to adjust the effect. Note: Make sure the bypass button is not turned on.

Yeah I tried that and its not working, the bypass buttons are grayed out so it must be off. I think I need a midi controller, which sucks cause I don't to spend $400 just to use that effect.

If they are greyed out it means that your graphics card can't handle the effects. What are the specs of your computer (including graphics card)?

I see you have the Intel GMA 950, this graphics card does not have dedicated RAM but rather shares it with system RAM. You won't be able to use the Video-SL effects with this graphics card.

Ok well thank you for all your help. I'm going to see if I can up grade my card.

No worries, sorry about the bad news. If you are able to upgrade, make sure you get a graphics card with dedicated memory, not shared memory.
