Will the crossfader on a denon X500 mixer and HC5000 activate songs in Itch to play when crossfaded to?

Denon techs did not know if the crossfader would work a midi signal.

do you mean itch internal mixer? But really what would be the benefit of trying to do this? as you have x500 that has contour for the crossfader

I mean will the denon X500 mixer crossfader start playing songs between decks A & B on the denon HC5000?

I currently own the older denon X800 mixer and the crossfader will NOT start the HC5000 playing.

Denon didn't know if it would trigger the "midi" (I call it an MP3) song to start playing.

I always use the crossfader start function and want to know before I buy the newer X500 if it'll work.

I think it's pretty lame that Denon could NOT answer this simple question.

Thanks for your help

Hey gpruzi.

The HC5000 and fader start works fine with the Pioneer DJM800, which uses the same 5v Fader Start pulse as the Denon mixers do.

Can you check the X800 manual to see if you've setup the mixer so it's sending the signal. This is the manual entry, not sure if anything else needs doing I'm sorry.

CROSSFADER START A, B buttons
• The function to start the performance of CD Player with Crossfader automatically is turned on/off.
• When the button is pressed in, the Crossfader Start is on and the adjacent orange indicator lights.

My older X800 crossfader will not work, it only mutes the deck sound your fading away from but will not start the play of the deck that your sliding towards.
A denon tech said that's because the older X800 is "Xeffects" (not Xcontrol) was made to control features on the great Denon2600F CD Player that I'm now sorry I'm replacing.

So before I waste $400. on a new mixer I want to make sure the crossfader will start the HC5000.

I'm amazed denon can't answer this question!

Thanks for your response

Well, the X500 looks like they are using the new generic fader start information, so I'd say it works (even though I've not tried).

I'll get the Denon guys to test and advise here.

Cheers.

Cool, hold tight, time differences may mean this takes a day or two.
Cheers.

I have a x900 and HC5000, Fader start works great. X500 and x900 are mostly the same.

I used fader start with my Denon HD2500, when I initially switched to the VCI-300 it took a lot of time to retrain myself away from FS. But now that I have it back I don't use it anymore. It is nice on occasion when I need a free hand.

Thank you all for your input, looks like I'll also be replacing my mixer.

I found a cardboard box and painted it black hoping it would block enough sunlight so I can see my laptop screen at outdoor gigs but it didn't help. I'm waiting on an anti-glare screen to come, hopefully I'll be able to use Itch at outdoor gigs.

Hi gpruzi, yes the X900 & X500 (and all Denon mixers) will trigger the HC5000 Fader Start.

Did you check or exchange your 3.5mm cables?
-They should be stereo type (not mono) this could be the cause.

Did you try all 4 fader start channel jacks ?

Yes I'm using the correct cables, which by the way, why doesn't Denon include three of them with the HC5000, I had to purchase some.

Yes the fader start, meaning volume faders will work, my issue is the crossfader on my older X800 mixer will not trigger the decks ( A & B ) to start when crossfaded to. It will however mute the deck that I'm sliding away from but won't start the deck I'm sliding towards.

If you read my email thread to your tech support I have been given several conflicting responses, please read the thread.

My question is simple, if I buy a newer mixer (X500) will the crossfader start decks to play while using Itch.

We include the Fader Start cables with the mixers, not the players/controllers.

Thats correct, X-Control Cross Fader was designed to trigger the Hot Starts and Sampler on the DN-2600F/DN-D9000 models.
