Hi, I have had problems with serato on my Vista laptop since I got it...I get the BSOD often with errors like 'IRQL not less or even', 'Bad pool header' etc.. I've researched this forum many times and tried everything..So now I am thinking the problem may be Vista related and am hoping that if I upgraded my OS to Windows 7 it will be more stable.. ??

Hi stew84,
Windows 7 does seem to be more stable than Vista, however if these problems aren't due to Vista then upgrading may not help. Are these all Scracth Live specifc crashes you are talking about? Or just general Windows crashes?

I'm not sure..my laptop only crashes (blue screen crash) when I use and usually just after I have used Scratch Live.. What do you think? Thanks..

If that's the case then I'd say that upgrading the OS won't help, as it could be something with Scratch Live or your audio files that is causing the crash.
What are the specs of your computer? Which version of Scratch Live are you using? What are you doing in Scratch Live when it crashes?

Ah, the specs of my laptop- Intel core 2 Duo- 1.83ghz with 2 GB ram.. Am using the latest Scratch Live version..1.9.2. And there's not a specific thing I do that makes it crash..sometimes it will happen after a few minutes, few hours, and sometimes fine until I close the program and then it crashes.. Its defiantly something about Serato because my laptop never crashed before I bought it, but then I haven't run a program as demanding as this.. ? Thanks

Ok, thanks for that :)
I'd suggest you take a look at this article on troubleshooting crashes -> www.serato.com (click link). Please try the suggestions in there (especially removing corrupt files) and let me know if that helps at all :)

Hi, unfortunately it hasn't helped.. I analyzed and removed all corrupt files/changed V2 database but still I get a blue screen crash..this time with the 'IRQL not less or equal' message..I also have bought a registry cleaner thinking that was the problem...It only crashes with the SL1 box connected, can hardware get corrupt? Despair..

Hey stew84,
I'm sorry that didn't work out :( Are you able to take a screen cap of the error message you get and attach it to this thread? Thanks.

Hey stew84,
Oops my bad, of course you can't take a screen cap of a BSOD. Sorry!
You can still get the exact wording of the error message including the address number/code. You can find this in your Event logs (Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Event Viewer, right click -> Properties).
Next you should test out your memory and and make sure it's not corrupt. Try downloading Memtest86 (it's free) and test it, you can get this here -> www.memtest86.com
Another thing to check would be to see if you have any IRQ conflicts. Have read of this article -> www.helpwithpcs.com and see if that helps.
