What powered Subs to get with K8s?

dj_JM 4:48 AM 19 March 2010
I'll be buying a pair of QSC K8s.

What sub should I buy to match the K8s? I need the tops & sub to power a up to a 250 person event and be light weight/portable. I was thinking of 1x sub for now: JBL PRX 718s, QSC KSUB, QSC HPR 181, ect?

Thoughts?

i use this with my yorkville speakers, its does the trick.

Any of those will do the trick

ksub if you want light and portable, HPR if you want the boom.

jbl is a good comprimise between the two

ninos thats a car subwoofer and weighs about 400 pounds goodluck carrying that shit lol

if your going with K8's i wouldn't recommend getting a sub bigger then a 15 cause the sub will bury the highs then. i would say the Mackie 15 would be a good match for it.

i just purchased a k sub.... incredible when you factor in portability and sound. I also looked at the hpr 181 and hpr 151 those also sounded great but entirely too heavy for my liking.

what do you use for tops? Does one KSUB provide decent bass/boom for med sized events (200-250ppl)?

@dj dub cowboy. How large of an event can your system (2 k8s & 2 ksubs) handle? Thats the system Im headed towards...

I use mackie srm 350's and 450s.....sounds better with the 450s with bass cut on
I think that it provides excellent bass for a venue of that size..it also depends on what time of event ur using it for, and where it placed in a room. LIke i stated earlier portability was my main priority.

I've decided on the KSUB.

Can someone confirm that 19% off list is a good price (msg me)?
DJ Dub Cowboy 11:04 PM 19 March 2010
$1050 is the standard price, anything better than that is good
djrayray0981 11:35 PM 19 March 2010
The lowest I got them for(K-Sub), was $849 at the Guitar Center in West Covia
DJ Dub Cowboy 12:42 AM 20 March 2010

that's a great deal! How do you like it ? I was offered around 891 in Hollywood. I should go to your hookup.
DJ Dub Cowboy 6:39 AM 20 March 2010
I have two K10s. They are way better than the 450s but I prefer the K8s better. Yes, as mains. See the other threads about 8" speakers for my reasoning.
DJ Dub Cowboy 6:43 AM 20 March 2010
this one I think
