I recently organised a couple of hundred tracks intwo different crates into the order I wanted them. The first time there was no problem. The second time after closing and re-opening Scratch Live the tracks had gone back to their original order and hours of work had been lost. How can I ensure Serato saves my work?

Hello martin,
This will happen when importing music from different drives/partitions into the same crates.
To avoid this I would suggest moving your library to one drive/partition and importing it from there.
The other option is to just not import music from different drives/partitions into the same crate.

Okay, sorry to sound stupid but I am definitely no computer wizz.
I have all my music files on my computer in my i tunes music folder and thats it. I do not use an external hard drive. Is that what you mean? Can you explain a bit better how the files could have ended up in different partitions (and what these are) and how I fix this issue? Like I said I have little computer knowledge so you might have to spell it out for me.
PS. Within the i tunes folder the music is organised in folders by date as I purchase it. Do you mean crates have to come from the one folder? Major hassle if so.
Thanks for your help.

You can import files from multiple locations on a particular drive/partition.
The problem your having is usually due to a user importing music from more than one drive/partition.
A partition is a separate section of a drive.
For instance.. you can partition your one hard drive into two partitions creating two separate parts.
If you then import music from both partitions into the same crate your tracks can get jumbled up.
To see if you have more than one drive/partition open SSL, click on the 'files' tab, and look in that first column.
That is where they will be listed.
How many hard drive icons do you see and what do they say?
Let me know and we'll go from there;)

Ok.. if you click on the Removable Disc (G:) (or any other hard drive icon for that matter) do you see a .ScratchLIVE or _ScratchLIVE_ folder in the next column over?

No, the only place is in the my music folder (where I keep my music) which has a folder saying scratch live and a folder saying scratch live backup.

Open SSL, click on the 'all' section, and click on the little gray triangle in the little black box directly above the gray scroll bar on the far right side of the main library window.
Create a 'location' column.
Look at the first part of each tag in that column.
Are any different or do they all say they are coming from the C drive?

They all say coming from same C drive location:
C:\users\owner\music\itunes\itunesmusic........
Seems weird I have organised music before and it has saved it okay and 2 or 3 times it just hasn't. Beats me.

Ok.. try this:
1. Shut down SSL.
2. Open the ScratchLIVE folder located in your Music folder on your C drive.
3. Rename the databaseV2 file as well as the neworder.pref file by adding the word OLD at the end of them.
Now re-open SSL, organize some files, shut it down, re-open it, and see if they are still in the correct location.
