I upgraded to 1.9.2 from a previous version of serato and found that my crates would not load off of my external harddrive. It was just blank with two songs called live feed SL1 and like Live feed (gated). The external is formatted NTFS and I am running windows XP. Also, when I create a new crate, I am unable to load any songs into them. I am just about limited to loading songs from Windows Explorer and dropping them on the virtual platters. Is there a way I can just upload a file which contains all the crate information onto serato? I had lots of crates with lots of songs already sorted and it would take months to rebuild them! ( if I was able to...) thanks in advance!

Close down the ScratchLIVE program.
Go to the external HD
There should be a _ScratchLIVE_ and _ScratchLIVE_BACKUP folders

Make the _ScratchLIVE_ folder look like this 123_ScratchLIVE_

Now make the _ScratchLIVE_BACKUP look like this _ScratchLIVE_

Now open the program - does everything load in now?

Nope. I still can't load anything into that crate browser on the lower left hand either... It shows them scanning at the bottom, but nothing happens. There's 3 folders currently pertaining to serato on the external... 123_scratchlive_ _scratchlive_ and .scratchlive ...

Make the .ScratchLIVE folder look like this .ScratchLIVE1234

Then try it again.

So you should have a 123_ScratchLIVE_ and a _ScratchLIVE_ and a .ScratchLIVE1234

on the external.

The .ScratchLIVE folder is grey and when I try to rename it windows posts an error and says 'you must type a file name'. Sorry if I'm not understanding right! :/

Can you move that .ScratchLIVE folder to somewhere else on the external HD? Basically move this folder so its not sitting on the main page of the external HD. Put it in another folder or somewhere else - not where its currently sitting.
DjLeadOscillator 7:04 PM - 13 March, 2010
Yeah, I can move that folder where ever, but as soon as I use that . Windows won't let me name it anything other than a file type it recognizes. Basically, if I knew how serato identifies it's host hard drive, maybe I could figure it out? All my songs are on the external. There are none on my internal hard drive and I was running the previous version of serato i think. I really reaally want to avoid having to create everything all over again because there's like literally thousands of songs in there. Plus, why am I not able to drop songs into new crates? I heard something about that Dvdatabase file... PLEASE help! My only other option is to use my MacBook with an older version which is really slow.

The ScratchLIVE program is going to read the _ScratchLIVE_ folder on the root of the external HD. The .ScratchLIVE folder is interfering - so it either needs to be renamed or moved.

Once you have only the _ScratchLIVE_ folder on the root of the external HD. I would go inside that folder and rename the DatabaseV2 file to something else - anything else.

Then open the ScratchLIVE program and see if fully loads.

You're awesome... But not all the crates are there. They still show up in the _ScratchLIVE_ folders, but they don't load up in the program. Sorry for being such a pill!

Go into the _ScratchLIVE_/Crates folder - copy all these files - now go into the _ScratchLIVE_/Subcrates folder and re-paste them there. Then open the ScratchLIVE program and see if all the crates show.

If this did not work - you should be able to go into any other ScratchLIVE folder (maybe the _ScratchLIVE_BACKUP) and find more crate files - which you can paste in the _ScratchLIVE_/Subcrates folder to see if they show.

Well, the crates are there, but there's nothing in the them... :(

If the crates show in the ScratchLIVE program - but they remain empty --- then the Crates within the _ScratchLIVE_/Subcrates folders are bad. You need to find good crates in another ScratchLIVE folder and put the good crates into the _ScratchLIVE_/Subcrates folder.
