i have an external hard drive that used to be hooked up to a pc and everything has crossed over to my mac smoothly except when I rename some of my video tracks it doesn't save the change and reverts back to the original name once it's played. I have a mac pro with snow leopard 10.6.2. I renamed the database v2 to databasev2broken and it rescanned the files but still no saving changes. How can I fix this?

Hi DJReign68,
What format is your external hard drive? (You can find this out by ctrl clicking on it, selecting Get Info and looking at the General -> Format field).

The format is MS-DOS (FAT32) with 287.73 gb available left on the drive.

Thanks for that :)
What format are your video files? Are these files and the folder they are in set to read only?

If you ctrl + click on the files/folders and select "get info" it should tell you at the bottom of the window that opens.

i just realized that the only videos that won't save the changes are from a record pool called djvideosource.com because the other videos I have have stayed the same as far as the changes here is one of the videos....

Hey DJReign68,
I'm able to edit the tags for that video - which tags are you editing? Do you have all your videos from djvideosource.com in a folder by themselves?

I've had a play aroung trying to replicate your issue and I think I've done it :)
Can you open Finder and go to the _ScratchLIVE_ folder on your external hard drive. In there you should see the Metadata folder. Are there entries in there for the files that you are having this problem with?

Well I have figured out that if I play the song in the offline player and then edit the name so it'll stay so is that normal with a mac because before didn't have to play it first before on a pc to get the change to stay? It's not a big deal now since I have figured it out but if it isn't normal I would like to get it resolved. I'll check in the finder and get back to you.
thanks

No that's not normal, you should be able to just edit your tags and have them saved. Please let me know if you do have entries for these files in the Metadata folder as I suspect that this is the cause of your problems.

yeh there are entries of the videos, the kind it say that the entries are, are document and xml, so what does that mean for me?

Ok, try this:
1) Ensure Scratch Live is closed.
2) Go to the Metadata folder and delete the .xml and .ovb files for one of your videos.
3) Open Scratch Live and edit the info for this video file.
Do the changes you make now save?

yes they do!! I've done it to two videos and it saved them without having to be played first. Do I need to clear the metadata folder out?

Awesome :)
Yes it might be a good idea to empty it out. Try a few more videos just to confirm then go for it :)
