last ight i hooked up my set at the a hall for a private event. when i plugged in turned on the LT it said "there is a probelm with the usb be device, reconect usb evice to correct the problem" somehting on the lines of this. i use a 9 volt poiwer supply so i figured it to be somethign with that. i unplugged the power cord and the usb plug fromt eh box. i restarted the SSL, and plugged the box in without external power and it worked fine. is this an issue with the power supply or the box iself? has anyone else had this problem.

Did you have any other devices connected? I get something like that that sometimes when I forget to plug out my webcam or something.

only my fans.

Hmmm...But this is a one time event, right?
dj synystr 10:21 PM - 16 January, 2005
i havent tried it with the power cord. when i went to my club gig after i didnt use external power. its not the location that was the issue. that has nothing to do with it. it was all my equipment i have used with it countless times before.

Have you tried a different USB cable?
dj synystr 2:36 AM - 17 January, 2005
it worked fine without power to the box. its not the cable. i used it at that event then again at the club an hour later with no problems. so im figuring it has to be the power going to the box that caused this issue. i was just checking if this happened to anyone else.

I haven't heard of that error happening to anyone before, so I guess you're the very first. Can you reproduce it?
dj synystr 1:11 AM - 18 January, 2005
i will try. like i said ihavent used the power cord since. i have to do a mix this week so i will be checking on that and my other issue. i will report back asap.
dj synystr 2:53 AM - 20 January, 2005
im getting the message again. it says the usb device that you have conected has malfunctioned or is not reconized by windows. somehting on the lines of that. then it says its a generic usb device. im gonna try to unistall SSL and reinstall it. i went back to SP1 and it might have caused some issues with SSL. will follow up shortly.

synystr - can you let us know exactly what the message says?
dj synystr 3:32 AM - 20 January, 2005
one of the usb devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned and windows does not reconize it. for assistance in solving this problem click this message. WORD FOR WORD! lol now i cant see the box at all. it wont see it. i restarted, rebooted everything i know to normally try, and i reinstalled SSL. its seams like its a usb issue. can i delete all usb drivers and reistall them somehow?
dj synystr 3:43 AM - 20 January, 2005
ok now i plug it in again for shits and giggles and it works. i didnt change anything.
Detroitbootybass 5:36 AM - 20 January, 2005
Is this computer ever connected to the internet?
dj synystr 6:29 AM - 20 January, 2005
yes. i just reformated. installed SP 1 and SSL it loaded up no problem. i unplugged the box rep;uged and got the same damn error.
Detroitbootybass 6:56 AM - 20 January, 2005
Maybe your computer got a virus? This, potentially, could be the source of your problems (this and your music files disappearing). Did all your issues occur around the same time (within a few days)?
dj synystr 3:15 PM - 20 January, 2005
all in the same day. doubt it was a virus i dont open shit from people i don't know. i dont open anything fwd: i havent had a virsu in 3 years.
Revolutionary 3:21 PM - 20 January, 2005
You have virus scanner? Could have gotten it from somewhere on the web, you know.
Revolutionary 3:22 PM - 20 January, 2005
*a virus scanner that is.
dj synystr 3:29 PM - 20 January, 2005
i have one yes. ITS NOT A VIRUS PEOPLE! i have reisntalled XP refoprmated whiped the drive to ZERO's. and still issues. THERE IS NOTHING ON THIS LAPTOP NOW OTHER THAN SSL. the box works sometimes then sometimes i get the error message i said before. oh yeah anbd this all wasnt in one day its been since this saturday when it happened thefirst time.

This looks like a bad/intermittent contact in one of USB connectors or in the cable itself. Did you try other ports on your laptop?
dj synystr 3:51 PM - 20 January, 2005
yeah. the blue light lights up on the box when it works and when it doesnt. now its working but 5 minutes later it wont. i will have to plug it in and out a few times before it regconizes the box as not being a malfunction. its wierd i didnt have this problem for the first 3 weeks or so. the cord is fine its in perfect shape and hasnt been abused.
bartaug 4:23 PM - 20 January, 2005
Generally when XP has this error message it means the USB connection went away (for a short time). When it works, can you push on the connectors and move around the SSL box and your laptop?
dj synystr 4:33 PM - 20 January, 2005
you know i switched out theUSB cables with the one that came with SSL, i didnt use it cause it was loser then one i had around. i plugged and unpluged 10 times and it worked. how long does a USB cable's connections last wiht heavy removale?
dj chex 4:42 PM - 20 January, 2005
when you reinstalled windows xp, did you load up updated chipset drivers such as the intel inf or the via service pack? B/c it's not uncommon to have usb issues if the chipset doesn't have the latest drivers.
BadCompany 5:06 PM - 20 January, 2005
Are you plugging the cord into the same USB port every time? Sometimes it doesnt work if you plug it into a different USB port...
dj synystr 5:23 PM - 20 January, 2005
lol, i think i posted that the issue was solved. it was the old usb able. the contacts must have been dirty or worn from using it for 2 years with FS. as far as the drivers im good on them. i have built laptops, and pc's.this issue was happening before the reinstall of xp. it apparently was the cable the whole time.
