When I import an mp3 file with artwork, the artwork is not showing up in scratch but it does show up in iTunes.
I bought my music files on Beatport. After downloading the tracks from their website I edit the mp3 tags in an external MP3 tagging application called: Media Rage (www.chaoticsoftware.com).
After editing the tags I import the music files using the "files" button in scratch. After the import and selecting a track, the artwork is not showing up. After analyzing the music files in scratch, the artwork also doesn't show up.
When I import the same music file (after editing in Media Rage) in iTunes, the artwork is showing up in iTunes. The APIC tag isn't removed or deleted accidentally.
I've uploaded a music file so you can test this:

I hope I provided you with enough details of the problem and it would be great if this bug got fixed.
Thanks in advance.

You should be attaching the artwork to the files via itunes. For now, we know that works time after time. we are looking for a better program / system of doing so. The trick is finding a program that writes it in a spot on the tag that our program will read and display it form. Currently, itunes is the one.

Can you give me an estimated timeframe when this new system will be implemented? Are we talking about one of the following releases or is it positioned lower in the priority list?
Thanks in advance

It is very hard to say with software. It's even hard to break it down into "first half of the year" or "second half of the year". All I can really say for certain is that it is on the radar. Sorry for the vagueness.

hi there
similar to the above, with tracks bought with artwork tagged, surely it would not be necessary to retag. Secondly,. when i load the track the artwork shows but after changing the color dot in the track list the artwork disappears
is there a way to get the art work back?
thank ya

I've tested this issue on the new Beta of Scratch 2.0 (Release Candidate Mac) and the problem is still there. I'm a little bit disappointed because I really like the new cover views.
But what's the use if the album art tag isn't read correctly?
The tagging software I'm using follows the correct MP3 tagging standards so there's nothing wrong with the mp3 tag.
Is there a more concrete timing when this issue gets fixed?
Thanks!

I've downloaded the final release of version 2 and it's still not fixed. Too bad basic issues like these don't get fixed prior to new functionality. If I can't edit my mp3 tags without using iTunes I don't feel like using Scratch anymore.
Being able to see the mp3's cover is essential for a lot of dj's (e.g. vinyl) and it's pretty funny that Rane's developers implemented this new functionality to list our tracks in all sorts of "cover"-grids. Those grids are pretty empty on my tracklist.
This issue definitely made the choice between "Traktor Pro" and the new "SL3" a lot easier.

Most likely this is because of the location your program is adding the art to within the ID3 tag. If you use our program or itunes to add the art, this should not be a problem. Sorry to hear you are so frustrated, this can be resolved.

When editing my ID3 tags in the program and importing those edited tracks into iTunes, the artwork tags are read correctly so that's not the problem.
iTunes nor Scratch allow me to do bulk renaming or search for missing artwork. Well, iTunes does have this but 1) I don't like it when my Beatport mp3's get imported in my clean iTunes tracklist, 2) renaming option in iTunes or not enough for what I want to do with it.

Again, I think it boils down to the location of the info on the ID3 tag.
I will ask the developers on our weekly call if we have any more info or insight for you.
