Im stillusing Ashampoo nut have also tried a coupleof programs that dont recompress nut chopoff the start of the mp3 but none of them corrected the errors found by ashampoo .

Has anyone had any luck with any of the programs that dont recompress to correct errors , and get through the ashampoo check OK?

Thanks

Check out Helium - www.helium2.com (Win platform only). Primarily a tagging program, but it has a pretty good mpeg analyzer and can fix some (but not all) file corruptions without re-encoding.

I tried Helim but files that Ashampoo says are corrupted it says are fine???????????????????

If Helium and other programs say they are ok should i ude them or only trust Ashampoo?????????

Can any one from Serato answer this , is there a rpogram thats results can be trusted with use for serato?

Funny, my experience has been the opposite. Stuff ashampoo said was good, helium found problems. Wondering if either prog is right, or if there is something better out there for analyzing/fixing corrupt mp3.

I have files that Ashampoo said were fine, but another program (can't remember the name right now) labeled them as corrupt and vice-versa. Also, Scratch Live identified a group of files as corrupt that got by both of the other programs... hmmm.

The only way to be sure at the moment is to play them in Scratch LIVE - and mix with them in Scratch LIVE. There are many variations in the way MP3s are put together, and how various programs decode them. One thing that is particularly important for Scratch LIVE is that no 'time' is added or removed, because this can ruin a mix. In a normal player, this might not be so important, as a very tiny jump would not be noticed.

We are working on incorporating corrupt MP3 detection into Scratch LIVE.

Thnaks Sam but im just worried about an mp3 making SSL crash , so if the mp3 passes a test of one program and plays ok it shouldnt effect the stability of SSL , is that correct?

sam - is there a way for future ssl versions to batch analyze a folder of mp3's overnight and give them a green flag or whatnot (prolly add an rarely used id tag) to indicate they have passed the necessary checks?
