ID3tags edited in iTunes, originals still in Serato

When I have for example a mp3 with something in the comments like "downloaded from beatport.com" in the id3tag, I always delete this comment
But then when I analyze the file in Serato, this comment still comes up in the column "comments" in the Serato library.
How can I prevent this?

Hi DaMob,

Try using the "rescan ID3 tags" function (found in the Files tab) to read in any changes you have made in iTunes.

That doesn't help :)

Rats ;)

Sorry I see that I assumed you were using iTunes too, my mistake. What program are you editing the comments field in?
DaMob 11:47 AM 25 November 2009
O no, I am using iTunes
Sorry I didn't mentioned that before :)

Actually you did (in the title), I'm just getting myself all confused... ;)

Is this happening with all your files or just some? For the files that it is happening with , can you open iTunes, right click (or ctrl click) on the file, select "get info", click the "summary" tab and please tell me which ID3 tag version these files have?
DaMob 1:48 PM 26 November 2009
All the files of which I edited some ID3 tags
These files have version 2.3

Also discovered that when the ID3 tags pop up in Serato, it also pop ups in iTunes again if I play that song again
So basically it doesn't delete the content in the ID3 tag, it just shows it again if the file is analyzed

Are you able to attach one the files you are having this problem with so I can take a look at it?

Thanks :)

Hi DaMob,

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you!

I'm unable to reproduce your issue with the file you've attached, can you please tell me are you deleting the comment in Scratch Live or in iTunes first?
DaMob 11:02 AM 11 December 2009
No problem!

First I delete the tags in iTunes and then after analyzing, when they show up in Serato, I delete them there.
And then they're gone for good

I know you're editing the tags in iTunes, but are you importing these files into Scratch Live using the "read iTunes library" option?

Also the comments tags are added already when you purchase the track, correct?
DaMob 11:24 AM 16 December 2009
Yeah I import the files via the read Itunes library option

The most common comment is "purchased at beaport.com" so they're indeed added already.
You could say it's unnecessary to delete them, but I like everything minimalistic. I just need the artist's name and the title of the song.

No I understand, I keep my library and tags VERY organised ;)

Do you have any that have the "beatport" (or other) comment that you haven't edited yet? If so could you attach one of these to this thread?
