I was in the offline player.
added tracks via drop into folders/crates... no itunes.
successfully analyzed 70 videos.

when I started adding artists/track names... I got 2 crashes.
I have the crash report... but I need the icon to upload it to you.
it was 2 different tracks, not the same.
this might have just been a glitchy sort of thing, but twice?

Hi Joshua Carl,

I'm afraid there is nothing in the dmp report that tells us what happened sorry. Do you remember which files you were editing when this happened? Do you know what file format they are?

heres two more logs.

this is continually happening when Im editing the song info while in the offline player.

the sources of the videos are all different (some from crooklyn, some from smashvidz, xtendamix)

Ive had about 8 crashes in the last 48 hours (which makes sense, i only alter & load videos on thrs/fri)

its right when I double click on a field (in most cases the title field)

that last one... 2000.dmp
I was actually done with the track and click CTRL+Left Arrow to load it to the player.

this never ever ever ever ever happend in 1.9.1

I noticed when I modify fields, down on the bottom when the "writing tags" message
pops up, its taking a good 10-20 seconds for that message to disapear.

maybe when Im flying through, re-writing my info, and I get about 7-8 in
its not able to write so many?

I also noticed that my 500gb external HD has only 20gb left.
could that be potentially problematic? does the DMP files tell u anything?

Are you using 1.9.2? :)

I have a suspicion that these will all be MP4 files as there was a change made in 1.9.2 as to how the tags for these files was written. Are you able to download movieinfobatch and have a read of the article here -> www.serato.com (click link). Then can you drop a couple of files you have been having this issue with into movieinfobatch and cut and paste the info into this thread.

Thanks :)

Yeah... i jumped up to 1.9.2.

it seems like when I write the tags fast is when it happens.
(I dont allow for the writting tags message on the bottom to disapear before
starting to alter the next file, and thats when it crashes)

when i allow the tags to write, it doesent crash.

there seems to be no rhyme or reason to which files.

Hey Joshua,

I've tried to reproduce this but am unable to - the "writing tags" message does not stay up for very long on my setup. It's possible that the lack of free space on your external hard drive may be a contributing factor (you should have approx. 15% of your total capacity free). Are you able to try moving some video files onto your internal hard drive and see if you have the same problem there?

Also can you please try using movieinfobatch like I mentioned earlier and post some info on some of the files you have this issue happen with.

Thanks :)

I had written tags, exited... so they would save.
but when that last crash happend EVERYTHING I had written was lost.

I created a new datbase file... hopefully thats a fix

see NEW dumpfile
Guys, Im about to rip my hair out here....

I just edited like 60 videos in the offline player.
*I was extra-super-duper-careful not to type too fast or anything.
*I have a brand new 1tb HD on FW800 with 4oogb of free space.

the last video before the crash, I edited it.
right when I hit enter.
boom, crash.

all the edits I did prior to the crash. GONE.
I thought in 1.9.2 all this info was written to the file.
(it says down the bottom writting tags to ______________)

so, when this crash happens, why is all this data entered NOT re-surfacing.

seriously... my aggrivation level just tripled.

Hey Joshua,

Sorry for not getting back to you sooner, we've been flat out here :)

Thanks for the crash dumps, we should have enough to work with here. I'll forward these on to the developers and see if they can find out what is causing the problem.
Joshua Carl 3:14 AM - 29 January, 2010
Awesome... thanks a ton man...
Between: slowing down my typing | not spawning the VSL video window to preview what Im Tagging| using tag N' Rename occasionally for stubborn files... Ive been ok..

lets hope I dont bite my tongue.

Im still getting a crash if I try to Batch tag a large amount of files
(IE 50+ getting tagged "video hiphop" in the Genre column)
But Im not sweating that so much

thanks again

When a crash happens, the database may not be getting written out with the new information (it doesn't read the files every time, that would be waaay to slow). When you restart, try rescanning tags for just the files you were working on and see if your changes come up.

One of our developers will be able to look at your crash logs soon, hang in there...

Thanks Andy,
Ive abandoned trying to do the changes in SSL.

switched to the tag n'rename and mp3tag (Freeware)
Id love to go back to doing my editing of columns in SSL.

after those crashes, I never tried to rescan.
BUT, certain files when I load them into the offline player would revert back to
their edited state... this was more the rare occurence.
usually I had to re-do them all

Ok thanks Joshua... I just sent you a message (in your private discussions) about something further to try if you're still interested in getting the bug fixed for the benefit of yourself and others...

Should we maybe reimport all of our files?

Or is deleting the V2 file a good idea?

I know it sucks to lose our cues and loops but it seems it would help in the long run.

(I imported 1 TB of Videos in 1.9.1)

Just an idea. Actually just a guess.

Sorry. I just realized I already asked this in another forum. =)

Thanks again for the advice and help.
