I thought all you had to do was install a recent SSL version and just plug it in. That's what I did with my friend's HC4500 and it just worked.

I upgraded it to 1006 but all of the buttons do not light up and hot starts do not automatically work?

Hello skyhientertain,
First check to make sure you are in fact using version 1.9.2 by looking in the lower right corner of the setup screen.
Also make sure you have the latest firmware update for your 4500 through Denon's website.
If you have everything updated and its still not working then try opening up the ScratchLIVE folder located in your Music folder on your internal drive and rename the Midi folder in there so it reads 'MidiOLD".
Once renamed, open SSL.
Any luck?

I dont see a midi folder in there?I'm guessing your not looking in the correct ScratchLIVE folder then.
Macintosh HD - Users - House icon - Music - ScratchLIVE.
You will also see an iTunes folder, a ScratchLIVEbackup folder, and a Garageband folder in your Music folder.

Hm.. weird.
If you open SSL, click on the Midi tab, create a new preset (name it whatever you want), save the preset, shut down SSL, and open the ScratchLIVE folder to see if you now have a Midi folder.
Any luck?

okay did it. see the folder now. renamed it. the cue button on the hc4500 now seems to be lit properly but the playlist button is not lit like it should be.
Another question off topic how do I have serato cue past the dead space in the begining of the track?
Thanks

but the playlist button is not lit like it should be.The playlist button will eject a file that is loaded onto a virtual deck.
It will not light up.

'play from first cue'.
The file will load to that cue point with that option turned on.

The only buttons you can assign are the 'effect' buttons.
Everything else is natively mapped and cannot be changed.

I am trying to get the hc 4500 and serato to act as if I were playing a cd but it is not. Usually when I press A1 it would start the track and I could repeatedly press A1 t it will keep starting the track but it is not doing that with serato.
Thanks
Thanks

The A1 button is natively mapped to turn the 1st loop on... not start tracks.
You will not be able to map the A1 button to do what your trying to do.
Wouldn't pressing the play button do what your wanting to do?

No pressing the play button a second time would pause the track it will not hot start the track from the beginning of the cue. I am not sure if you are understanding my question. If I put a cd into a denon and use the a1 button I can repeatedly hit the a1 and go back to the cue and it will play from that point.

I understand what your trying to do.
As I said, you won't be able to use the A1 button on the controller to do that.
If I were you I would add a cue point to the first hi hat or kick drum your wanting to start from in each track and then map the cue triggers to the 'effect' buttons on the 4500.
That way you can press one of those buttons to trigger the cue points and start from where your wanting to in the track.

Actually... the function keys are already natively mapped to the cues.

But the function keys seem to just brings u to the cue point can it actually play the cue thus hot starting from that point? Is there a certain setting for this?
Zach S

If the play button is highlighted then pressing the function keys to trigger the cues will start playing the track from the cue your pressing.
