I recently attempted to update my version of ScratchLive from 1.9.0 to the latest version 1.9.2. When I did the update, I didnt have my scratch live box attached to the laptop. Well after the installation was complete, my system started scanning my music library. While it was scanning, all of my crates were missing. Once the scanning was complete, I could not see my library in the large viewing window near the bottom of the screen. When I click on files, then select my external HD, I can see the files in the sub folder to the right, but not at the bottom. Also, when I click on browse, It doesnt show a genre, BPM, Artist or album.

When I create a new crate and drag a file to it. Then I click on the crate, the file doenst appear.

What did I do wrong and how can I correct this?

Hi djcooperkidd.

This is odd.
Before you do anything else, can you please backup your backup....
Go to your My Music folder, then copy the 'ScratchLIVEBackup' folder (rename this ScratchLIVEBackupOLD.

Are all your music files on the external HD?

If so also backup your _ScratchLIVE_ folder on your external (_ScratchLIVE_backupOLD).

before I read your post, out of frustration, deleated all files associated with Serato, then I uninstalled Serato then reinstalled it. I then started the application again and the results were the same. The Library Does Not Appear. (I didnt not delete the registry keys associated with Serato).

What do I do now?

Yes, I have a 500GB Seagate External Hard drive. It has approx. 250GB of music files on it. I do have a few files on my laptop and those do not appear in Serato either. When I attempt to build overviews, it states all overviews are built.

if you remove your external drive and just use your internal drive, can you create a crate and put a file into it OK and see it?

yes. I can see the files once I create a crate and place files in it from my computers internal hard drive...

So what is the issue dear sir?

Does your external drive use a power adaptor, or are you running of USB power?
If USB power, try moving around to different USB port combos, some ports aren't as good as others, and the drive might not be working properly.
Or get a power adaptor for the drive.

Let me know if something works well or if we need to do some more troubleshooting.
Good luck.

My USB drive DOES use power. I can use the external without a power supply. I also tried connecting the external to all 3 USB ports and the result is the same.

Once the external is attached and I cclick on browse, I can see my drive there. I then expand the column and I can see my artist, then expanding that I can see the albums by the artist, expanding from there I can see the songs per album.

If I do not have the SL1 box connected to the laptop, I can then drag a file to the upper play area in the application and it will play. Once I do this, the file will appear in the library area....

I really dont know what to say about this...

Ill attach a screen image in a few moments.

After I went thru all of this to record a video and then upload it to youtube, then to post it here... I left my drive connected with scanning the music files.... and low and behold.. my library is back. Its still scanning, but I can see about a thousand files thus far.

Thanks for your help.. it must have been the USB port. That means I need a new computer..(how am I going to convince my wife I need to spend another 5-7hundred, plus 1200 on two new turn tables)

haha... well, good luck with the convincing! :D

As for the USB ports - not each port is created 'equal'. Meaning there are some 'good' USB ports, and some 'bad' ones. The bad ones will probably be sharing with the internal laptop keyboard+trackpad, so drawing power etc off that, which can cause issues.
Remember which port is good, and you should be fine.

I'll close this down for now. But feel free to repost if you have any further issues and it will open again.

Have fun!
