Windows Vista
I have a gateway md7818U 2.0 GHz Duo Core Processor, 4 gig memory
I am running Video SL on my latptop but most of the time the video tends to freeze up or is slow. There is no problem with the sound just the video. Are there any suggestions to this issue? I even trie to uninstall the program and put it back on but still no help.

It could be the way the videos are encoded. Try using the videos that I linked below. They are encoded proper and should play fine.

I get my videos from www.my12inch.com so I figured they would be encoded properly for video sl. I will try the link you gave me. Thanks

Could it be the video Card's RAM is to small ?
I would say you should Have a Minimum of 256 Mb,But More is Always Best..Try To Upgrade to a Video Card of Larger Amount of RAM, For Best Results.

Thanks for the suggestion. I believe my graphics card is above the normal requirements.
I was wondering if the external hard drive I was using was the problem. I am now using a new External Hard Drive with an eSATA cable. I havn't tried it yet but I am hoping that it will stop the video's from pausing when I load them.
Probably wishful thinking

What kind of processor is it? I just upgraded to a Mac from a bitchin HP Pavillion dv5 with Vista. The processor in the pc is boss, but it is an AMD Turion 2.0GHz 2 Core Duo. AMD Turion (and AMD Semprons if I'm not mistaken) are not compatible with VSL.

Are the USB ports on your computer USB 1.1 or 2.0?

the usb ports on my computer are 2.0 and it has an intel processor. My old laptop had an AMD processor but it kept running hot all the time so I had to get another laptop.

WHAT HAS REALLY WORKED FOR ME IS: I CONVERTED MY VIDEOS FILES USING >>> " AVS VIDEO CONVERTER 6 " , TO THIS VIDEO CODEC >> H.264 / AVC ( ADVANCE VIDEO CODING ) FILE TYPE >> MP4 ISO V.1
AFTER THAT ALL MY VIDEOS PLAY VERY SMOOTH AND ON TIME WITH AUDIO..
AND I HAVE USED THEM USING AN AMD PROCESSOR .. AND WORKS JUST FINE.. I HAVE TWEEKED MY COMPUTERS AT THE DISPLAY PROPERTIES, UNDER APPEREANCE TAB ,,, EFFECTS... THEN UNCHECKED >>> BOX... THAT SAYS... USE THE FOLLOWING TRANSITTION EFFECT FOR MENUS AND TOOL TIPS...
ALSO UNDER SCREENSAVER TAB,,,, NO SCREENSAVER,, THEN UNDER POWER.. HIBERNATION,,, NO HIBERNATION,,,
AND ON CONTROL PANNEL... SOUNDS... I SAVED DEFAULT SOUNDS AND SELECTED TO HAVE NO SOUNDS..
TO SOME OF YOU THIS MAY BE COMMON SENCE BUT SOME MAY NOT KNOW TO DEACTIVATE THIS SECTTINGS,, THAT SO FAR THEY WORK VERY WELL FOR ME. ON A PC NOTEBOOK WITH AN AMD PROCESSOR, A TURION 2 GHZ WITH 2 GIG'S OF RAM,,,
I HAD MORE PROBLEMS, WITH QUICK TIME, NEW VERSION , USE THE ONE THAT COMES WITH VSL, I HAD TO REMOVE THE ONE THAT WORKS WITH THE NEW I TUNES ,,,, REMOVED I TUNES...
AND FORGET,,, I TUNES ON THAT NOTEBOOK,
THAT IS WHAT IS WORKING VERY WELL FOR ME ON THAT AMD NOTEBOOK..
HOPE THIS HELPS... IT WORKS FOR ME.....
