Hi all need some help with a problem I may have, noticed last night when I was playing out in the club that when I loaded songs into the players (using internal mode) they where freezing/sticking for half a second or so then ok. The files have all been analyzed and there are no corrupt files. After the freeze/stick the files play ok, but I just get a bit of a scare when loading them thinking that the system is about to crash....It doesnt and I get on with it, anyone got any ideas suggestions???
Im using macbook pro 2.26mhz, 2gb of ram and a 320 hd which is half full. Oh and operating system 10.5 tiger
Thanks in advance
Davey

Hi dave28.
This 'freeze' is Scratch Live analyzing the file for you. To avoid it, make sure you analyze all your files before you play them (in the offline player, you can select the 'analyze files' button, and if you want the BPM set, just select the 'set auto bpm' button.)

If you drag a file (track A) to a virtual deck, play it, then drag another track (track B) to the deck, play that, then redrag track A to the deck, do you get the freeze?

Sweet as. Here's how you can do this:
1) Right click the file or folder
2) 'Get info' for the file or folder.
3) Everything in each category should say 'Read and Write'. If not do the following:
4) In 'Ownership and Permissions' --> 'Details' unlock the tiny lock.
5) Click "Apply to enclosed items" and enter admin password, then click "OK".
Let me know how you get on.

here is a quick 10 second video, you can see wen I load the fist track that there is a slight 1/2 second delay/freeze so I cant really drop a song right on beat if I wanted to plus this is a quick freeze you see, sometimes it freezes for a full second or 2 which of course scares the crap out of me thinking that one day it may not unfreeze

Hi BriChi - can you please start your own help thread so we can help dave28 without cluttering things up? Cheers.

but it would be on the same exact problem, you want 2 threads on the same issue?

I'm having the same problem. I've made a help discussion thread about it but never received a response though.
Here's the link to that discussion if you guys need more details on the issue: www.scratchlive.net

The reason is that problems might be caused by different things. Everyone is running completely different computers with different software, with different functions and different locations of the world. So we try to minimize all the clutter per thread, so each person gets helped without cluttering up the thread and confusing the diagnosis.
As it stands I am waiting for dave28 to get me a video.
Everyone else, again, please start a new help thread with your system information, and as many details about the issue as possible (Thanks for the video you took BriChi, but it is a bit too short, can you please do 2 tracks this time and upload to your thread? Sorry.)
Any help threads go into a cue. Mondays are pretty busy for us, so Corex your thread will be dealt with asap :D
Cheers guys.

dave28, i have been using Snow Leopard since the release (plus 10.6.1, 10.6.2) of it with the SL3 and SL1 with no issues at all so I would say by now it is ok to install

no problem,,
from 10.6 to .1 and .2 there really are just bug fixes

Before you update to 10.6.2, try Serato on 10.6.1 and see if you still have the lag. If you do try the Performance update 1.0 and see, then update to 10.6.2 and see I guess.
Maybe one of those things would be the fix-it issue?
Let me know if you can do that though 'cause I'll go ahead and revert back to 10.6.1 if it does fix it.

Scratch Live 1.9.2 and Snow Leopard are working, so you should be good to go.

2:35 AM - 20 November, 2009
Make sure that you only upgrade to OSX 10.6.1 as Corex says and install the performance update 1.0.
