I searched on the forum for this but I couldnt get a clear cut answer. If I use my iPod as an external drive will all my smart playlists I've set up on iTunes show up on SSL by importing the music folders from my iPod? And once all my music is on the SSL library from my iPod and I have build overviews for them and set up cues, will it show up on other computers/laptops? thanks again

The thing is, the iPod does not show up in SSL in the iTunes library part. So I don't think your smart playlists on the iPod will work. What you can do however is make a new crate (call it 'iPod' or something) and drag the iPod Music folder from the import panel onto that crate. That will import all the songs on the iPod into SSL where you can then build overviews and set cue points. Since that info is stored in the tags of the files, when you hook your iPod up to another computer and run SSL, the iPod crate with all the iPod's music will show up. Hope this helps.

does this mean that the songs have to be on the ipods hard drive and not in a playlist? what im trying to say is.. will i be able to implement playlists from MY ipod into serato for real time use? or do i have to strictly use my ipod as an extrnal hard drive for it to work with serato?.. also quick question. anyone who is using the G5 i pod (video) as an external... how does it run? thanks!

JustForKicks,
No. Your playlists won't show up.
I'm not sure about the G5 but I would suggest starting a different post in the general discussion area.
