Hi,

at the moment I got an LG LW20 Laptop.
Serato runs perfect with the best Settings.

But I am a technique freak and I got a chance to change my LG LW 20 against a brand new MacBook 2,0 Ghz with 1.25 gb RAM, the white one...

I tested the MacBook and found out that as soon as I couple the SL1 in the secound USB, I am getting USB DropOuts. I know it is a known mistake.
Is that mistake a manufacturer problem ?

Now for my question, I often want to try out new things, the Macbook would already stimulate me, however, I heard that the complete first series of MacBooks should have mistakes. Is that true ?
What would you recommend me to do?

Still something, I have an external HDD. At my Windows System everything works perfect. Under OSX I did not have problems, but I would like to know if you got any experiences with external hdds on a Macbook.
Has the USB port only got problems with the SL1 or the has the USB Port also problems with external HDDs.

I must decide until Sunday, so write fast reasonable answers .

Tosh,

If you are looking for a computer to strictly run SSL and you already have one that works perfectly you may not want to change anything.
The new Macbooks do work well and I'm sure if you do run into any problems they can be sorted fairly easily, but if the computer you have now works than I suggest not trying to fix it.

This is a known problem that happens because that one usb port shares its power with something else on the computer. So yes, it is a manufacturer issue.

The MacBooks as you probably know use intel chips. Although the switch seems to be moving pretty smoothly, there will be some problems that will arise when using 3rd party software.
So far, when it comes to our software, MacBooks run well but like I said, if the computer you have now works seamlessly with SSL than I would keep that system for use with SSL.

No. The usb port shouldn't have any problems with your external HD.
You do want to make sure that your ext. HD isn't formatted NTFS. If it is you won't be able to 'write' information to the tracks (i.e. changing names, remembering loop points, etc.)

My Computer strictly run SSL, okay Opera is installed, too ;)

I would like to transfer to the macworld, but maybe I should wait another year.. Or buy a powerbook ;)

Don't buy a powerbook, you will be disapointed.
If you want to get a mac, I suggest you wait until you actually need a new laptop for SSL rather than trying to fix something that isn't broke.

Never change a running system...

Okay, I am going to test SSL with a Macbook again on Sunday. I think 8 hours must be enough to say if it works..
