The crates I create disappear when I exit the program. I have SSL version 1.5. and no external hard drives. How is this problem fixed?

I have the same problem. Took ages to add my entire collection and once i quit and reloaded it, nothing in there! Also when I load my iTunes library all my playlists are there, but no songs at all!
I'm using a PC with SSL 1.5 and iTunes 6. Cheers,
Phiebs

Thanks but no, none of my crates are empty and the folder permissions are all fine. Is anyone else using the latest version of iTunes? If its just me then I'll give the machine a format as it's not really a problem. Thanks
Phiebs
p.s. I already read the wiki but to no avail :(

Not related to iTunes but there is a bug in 1.5 related to the creation of crates on external dives or partitions other than the system partition.
If you are having this problem, try 1.6.1 which fixes the issue.

I have my music (crates?) on different partition where I installed my SSL. What is 1.6.1 and where can I download it? BTW, I tried version 1.4. and there's no problems with crates.

Cheers for that, I still cant seem to resolve either of my problems. I'm a verteran DJ and a veteran computer user and I've tried everything. A) it won't save any of my crates on exit (even when installed to the same place as my music) and B) iTunes library and playlists all show up in the left (crate) part, but no music whatsoever...
Any ideas?

Anyone got any ideas on this cause it's really starting to annoy me and I don't know if its just me being thick or what?! I'm willing to format but is anyone else running 1.5/1.6.1 with iTunes v6?
Cheers,
Phiebs

Ok - this is really annoying now... imagine loading ALL of your music - organising into crates and building all the peaks and every time you quit you have to do it all over again... Is there really noone else with this problem? Is it a format job?!!

I think i've got it - and I also think it is a bug (FAO Serato Admins).
I've got a laptop with 100gb HDD, split into 20gb system (c:) and 80gb data (d:), which I'm sure is common. However being computer orientated I have my "My Documents" folder on my D: drive and simply re-map it everytime I format. From my various readings of the wiki and this forum I know that SSL is sensetive to where your music is. I think because it *thinks* it is on my C: drive due to the fact that it is in "My Documents" but it's actually on my D: partition (where it should have a .ScratchLive folder) it's not properly saving/loading all of the settings. Am I going to have to change all my music around to get this working or is it an isolated case of an idiot (me ;)), or is it an actual bug? Anyone else??? Cheers in advance,
Phiebs

Sorry for the immense amount of replies to myself (lol) but it deffo was that - if I add an mp3 by choosing, d: -> my documents -> my music -> iTunes etc etc then it creates the needed .ScratchLIVE folder and it remains there when I re-open. If I add the same file by selecting the defaultly selected folder of "My Music" then it WILL NOT WORK!! I believe this to be a small bug?? Anyone else have this structure on their PC??

Because I haven't found solution to this problem, I use version 1.4. where the crates are not disappearing. Phiebs, why don't you use 1.4.? Is there some other disadvantages? I haven't found any critical drawbacks from 1.4. yet.. (However I'm just a rookie with Serato deejaying)

Kolina - thats a very good point! I have considered it but I would like to be able to use the newer versions, so for now I have re-structured my music, but I still believe it's a bug and the serato people should look into it!

kolina, 1.4 lacks features and bug fixes available in the newer versions.
DJPhiebs, there is definatley an issue with having a redirected My Documents in SSL.
I think you have discovered the workaround, can I also suggest you use subst to map a drive to your my music folder.
At a command prompt type
subst m: "d:\my documents\my music"
Then when you import music into SSL do it from the M: drive, this will solve your issue and if you ever decide to move your library to a new harddrive or partition it will make the process very easy.

Nobspangle - cheers mate, although I have just moved all my music around, but nonetheless a neat feature to use, and I normally do it a slightly different way, and equally cannot believe that I didn't think about doing it!!!
I think a SSL admin needs to look into this bug.
