DJ Bags/Laptop/Serato/ect....

djdalite 5:19 PM - 11 July, 2009
Im sure this has been discussed, but im lazy and dont want to search to deep.

My Odyssey vinyl bag was pretty much what i used to carry my SL1/in the box in came in, and store my headphones and other items. Then i had a HP laptop bag for my laptop, but it doesn't have enough room for everything

Anyway it broke and...Well that was ghetto

So time to upgrade, i need a new bag to carry everything. Im not a huge fan of the Rane backback, plus its overpriced

I kind of like the Gig Skinz bag but im sure a lot of people have those

Im looking for something unique, fair priced and able to hold a 17in. laptop/SL1 and other randoms

Any suggestions?? - btw you probably noticed im a forum whore(just keepin the scene alive!!)

I have been using a UDG creator backpack and it is wicked. You can barely pick it up when fully loaded, but keeps your shit nice and safe.
djdalite 8:21 PM - 11 July, 2009
Hmm ya $300 for a backpacks kinda silly imo

yes yes, more more (no homo)

Is having a unique bag really that important?

I actually use an OGIO bag for my laptop, it doesn't have dedicated pockets for anything besides the laptop but it works really well for me. Pocket at the front that fits the serato interface perfectly,

This is what I'm using and I love it! Everything is brilliantly laid out and accessible.

And it's a fraction of the cost of the UDG bag.

I use a shoulder bag and a backpack from these guys - can't say enough. The material is water resistant for rain etc, super well designed - I had a big stack on a pushbike once with a Laptop that was only days old & no probs at all thanks to the design and quality of the bag.

Although they aren't the cheapest out there, I wasn't looking to skimp on quality (given the thing is usually carrying 3 grand worth of equipment etc), and lucky I didn't as the bag paid for it's self in the first week!

Besides Crumpler for soft cases, I would also suggest Storm or Pelican for hard cases.

Hi all, I'm here in the States until March and was thinking of picking up a Stashpack while I'm here for use when I get home. Seems like the perfect bag for me as I rarely need to carry my mixer around and don't want a huge bag. Was just wondering if any of ye know if I could fold it up into a small size when empty to pack in my main luggage or is it still rigid when empty.

Thanks in advance.
dj madmyk 4:59 PM - 14 January, 2010
I've used the UDG creator bag (too bulky & heavy when loaded with all your gear, plus the damn zippers broke off). Switched to the Headliner Stashpack (excellent bag no complaints here. Holds all your essential gear & still weighs alot less than the UDG bag). Then I found the Monocase EFX 365 bag (www.monocase.com) In my honest opinion this is the best digital dj bag I have used. It holds everything I need it to hold & then some. Just my 2 cents. Good luck in finding something that suits you.

Can you fold it so it packs into a luggage bag, want to get one and bring it home but already have a carry on case so would be sweet if it packed into my suitcase for use when I get home ??

i just got yesterday the Shure MBR bag!! sick shit. super good and perfect.
Skerry 6:44 PM - 14 January, 2010
So are any Stash pack owners out there able to let me know if its possible to fold it when empty so it can be packed away or not? Really want to get it but its no good unless I can pack it in my luggage to bring home on the plane.
dj madmyk 2:15 AM - 15 January, 2010
@ Skerry I tried to fold my Monocase but it didn't do to well...sorry. But the Stashpack is good to go! Had no problem folding it & it came out looking like a champ. Then again it was only folded for a few seconds not for a whole international flight back home. You might wanna consider packing either bag flat? If you do end up having to fold it leave the zippers undone so no damage. Hope this helps. Have a safe trip home.

Cheers for the feedback Madmyk. I was planning on packing it flat if I can get away with it. Should be OK I'm thinking. Need to pick up a good bag as I'm sick of dumping everything into regular record bags and hoping for the best. I'll post up how I got on after the deed is done, not going for a couple months yet. Thanks again, your a legend

Has anyone ordered the Headliner from Djdeals.com. Was just about to order it there and checked out reviews of the website and seen a lot of negative ones. Was thinking might be better off ordering from Headliner's website. Anyone got experience with either one ??

Instead of folding it up, why not pack of full of stuff so it isn't taking up heaps of room empty?

@Skerry I ordered mine from Turntable Lab and it arrived (in New Zealand) a couple of weeks later, sweet as.

I was hoping to pack it flat in my suitcase as I already have a carry on case I'll have to bring. Hoping it will pack away alright flat without taking up loads of space. You think it would pack away OK?? Tried Turntable Lab and their out of stock so might just order direct. Cheers for the info
baseline 11:43 AM - 18 January, 2010
I wouldn't reccommend folding it, but it should pack down OK in a suitcase. What I was meaning in my earlier post, was instead of it being wasted space in the suitcase, fill it with stuff like your dirty washing or something and pack it into your suitcase. It'd be much more effective that way.
Skerry 2:51 AM - 19 January, 2010

Ah I see. Good plan, if it doesn't fold too well so I can just fill it up and pack it away. Think I'll go ahead and order it direct off Headliner so as Turntable Lab are out of stock and I've not heard good things about DJ Deals.com delivery times. Thanks again

Turntable Lab are out of stock of the Stashpack for the last while, only have the Multimedia pack. Direct from Headliner seems to be the only other option, haven't heard anything about their service but you'd imagine its good seeing as its their own product their selling.
Skerry 9:03 PM - 19 January, 2010
The dimensions are the same for the Multimedia pack and the Stashpack. Dude from Turntable lab says the only difference is the front pockets are slightly different, but the Headliner site doesn't mention anything about the Multimedia pack being able to fit 20+ vinyl ( which I would need ). Not sure if I want to chance it just incase, think I'll try order off Headliner altogether as Turntable lab won't have the Stashpack back in for a couple of months. Internet shopping can be a pain sometimes.

Mine just arrived FedEx an hour ago.

Only complaint (besides initial customer service issues that got resolved) is that my 57 doesn't quite fit with its foam cover (I can force it in but you can see the bag stretching just a bit)

Otherwise I'm a bit overwhelmed
DJLRock 10:24 PM - 27 January, 2010
Did it come with the harness? I'm still waiting for mine.
sacrilicious 11:48 PM - 27 January, 2010
They said they were going to throw in some shit for free because my order got delayed. Who knows. I got:

4x little pouches that attach to the sides of the bag.
Laptop sleeve
Backpack style harness that clips off
Main bag with over the shoulder strap
Blank "skyn"
DJLRock 11:54 PM - 27 January, 2010
what size harness did you get? they said the large is backordered. so i have just the main bag with shoulder strap, laptop sleeve and 3 skyns
sacrilicious 12:24 AM - 28 January, 2010
I got a small or medium. Can't remember but I looked at the size charts

Ordered it off Headliner only to be refunded about 10 days later as their out of stock until February 15th. Emailed DJ City about delivery times etc and they never got back to me. Hoping Headliner or Turntable Lab get them in soon, really want to pick one up before I leave the States

im tring to make that decession now, coffin or cases....does the laptop stand on the new coffins work well?
Djaward 6:20 PM - 17 March, 2010
I STARTED THIS POST A MONTH AGO.. CHECK IT OUT.. A lot of bags were discussed.
serato.com

I got the HEADLINER Road Pack plus. I got this bag because of the space. It comes with a
bag for a mixer and it fits in the back pack (i own the 57 just got it too)
serato box and cables
shure case with 4 needles in it
headphones
more cables
17 inch laptop
UDG record holder
Staton Uber stand
SC adapter for the SL box
Microphone and cable

I bought 2 bags at once.. Here is my review from the post I made

here is a link to all the pictures..
www.picturetrail.com target="_blank"><img src=

So here are my pics of the two bags..
pic90.picturetrail.com

The first one will be of the EQUNIT BAG (I DO NOT LIKE).
PRICE $184.99 SHIPPED.
pic90.picturetrail.com
Bag is big and tough. Definitley a lot of compartments FOR SMALL THINGS..
It came with a blank skin.. I dont know how to put pics on it and it looks nasty. Its a good thing you can flip it around.
pic90.picturetrail.com
On the other side of the skin, it has these little slots for pens.. LIKE 50 OF THEM.. Dont see why they did this.
This is the first pocket.. I can fit my UDG record holder. But UDG makes the bag wide. So you're pretty much forcing the zipper to close.
pic90.picturetrail.com
Next I put my needle case, serato box and my headphones in along with the UDG case.Fits ok but again your forcing the zippers. The serato cables (4 rca and the USB cable) could have fit in the bag.
pic90.picturetrail.com
This picture is showing you how much I could zip the bag up. At this point I was seriously going to force the bag closed. I DIDNT WANT TO BREAK MY HEAD PHONES..
pic90.picturetrail.com
With the UDG and everything else in there, the side pockets are pretty much useless. They can fit papers but no cables, or a mic.
pic90.picturetrail.com
pic90.picturetrail.com
The next pocket is where the LAPTOP and the STATON STAND would go.. The bag came with an extra bag for the laptop. It has velcro on the bottom of the bag.. I DONT KNOW WHY. Nothing else fits in here but the laptop and the stand.
pic90.picturetrail.com
pic90.picturetrail.com
pic90.picturetrail.com
For those who want to take their mixer with them you can. But dont plan on packing anything else. Your mixer knobs might get fucked up. I put the 56, serato box and cables and the power cord to the mixer. THE UDG RECORD HOLDER IS NOT IN THERE..
pic90.picturetrail.com
This is what pretty much fit in the bag.. I could have probably added a cable or two. but thats it.
pic90.picturetrail.com
pic90.picturetrail.com
This is what didnt fit in the bag after everything else was in there
pic90.picturetrail.com

Up next is the HEADLINER ROAD PACK PLUS BAG.. This bag comes with an extra bag for the mixer. Be aware that there is no pading to protect the mixer if you're carrying the bag by itself. MEANING OUT SIDE THE BAG..
PRICE $205.00 SHIPPED
pic90.picturetrail.com
pic90.picturetrail.com
Straps are tough and it has a strap to go accross your chest
pic90.picturetrail.com
pic90.picturetrail.com
This bag has so many pockets to pretty much put what ever you like. I didnt have my cable bag with me or else I would have stuffed it with the cables.. So I just packed it with whatever I had. The out side of the bag as a pocket but some one can easily take out whats in there.
pic90.picturetrail.com
Serato Box and NEEDLES
pic90.picturetrail.com
Here is a pocket where you can fit cables, adapters anything. And it has 2 velcro straps for cables.
pic90.picturetrail.com
pic90.picturetrail.com
This pocket right above the serato box and needles can fit my headphones and serato cables (4 rcas and USB)
pic90.picturetrail.com
pic90.picturetrail.com
This little pocket isnt deep but wide and can fit your IPOD, cell and your charger.
pic90.picturetrail.com
In this slot you can fit the UDG and the STATON stand. In this slot you can fit your mixer with the bag if you wanted to, but NO UDG
pic90.picturetrail.com
pic90.picturetrail.com
In this pocket you can fit your staton stand or magazines (I have the serato manual in here).
pic90.picturetrail.com
Your laptop is right behind it in a smooth suede material. And it has a velcro to keep it nice and tight.
pic90.picturetrail.com
pic90.picturetrail.com
pic90.picturetrail.com
On to the SIDE POCKETs. Both pockets are big. You can fit you serato box, needles, headphones, laptop charger, cables and more. One pocket has 3 pens slots and Buisness card holder. I put my laptop charger in there.
pic90.picturetrail.com
I RAN OUT OF STUFF TO PUT IN THE OTHER POCKET. But I was able to put the 56 power cod in there and still have room for more.
pic90.picturetrail.com
Now on to the Extra bag for the mixer. You can put what ever you want in here. Doesnt really need to be for the mixer. Its a tough material but NO PADDING.
pic90.picturetrail.com
Theres a zipper pouch in this bag. If you you're using this for the mixer then nothing fits in this poutch. But if you have other things in there then yes something fits. I just didnt test it.
pic90.picturetrail.com
pic90.picturetrail.com
Hree it is with the 56 in it. There is no space for anything else in this bag.. If you decide to use this bag for the mixer, I suggest you buy or make the foam thing for it.
pic90.picturetrail.com

THE TWO BAGS TOGETHER.
pic90.picturetrail.com

Bottom line, both bags are made tough. The EQUNIT bag is cool but doesnt fit a lot. And out of the 5 people I showed the bag to, all of them said it looked nasty. Especially if you have the plain white skin showing. The headliner is a biger bag and fits a lot. I used the UDG as an example because I want to carry the UDG with me at all times. The equnit didnt fit it. and I knew I was going to break the zippers if I forced a lot. SO THER YOU HAVE IT.. If you have any questions PLEASE HIT ME UP. I am returning the equnit bag tomorrow (WED). I love the Headliner bag. GOODNIGHT.
