Can you try to do this and see if it helps:
Go to Applications
Go to Utilities
Open Audio/Midi setup program
Create a new configuration (with the VCI-300 plugged in an turned on)
This should recognize the controller

it worked so I'm good for now.

Yeah, it's still happening. Every time I load Itch I have to go to the utilities, midi and hit the rescan MIDI button. I called and emailed Vestax and they said they have never hear of this and I needed to contact you guys. Personally, I'd rather work with you guys, you have always given me excellent service and fast responses over the years with my Scratch Live.

I have a newer Macbook Pro (one piece aluminum) with 2.8 GHz Intel Core Duo & 4 GB 1067 MHZ DDR3. I'm currently running OS 10.5.7 and Itch v1.0.5. I also have Scratch Live v1.9 on this same computer if that matters.

I have no problems with my computer using my mixer or Scratch Live as a midi control. I have tried both ports. I always have my computer plugged into power when I load itch.

Hopefully this will help.

By the way, why didn't you guys include the ability to adjust the gains internally on each track in Itch like you can with Scratch Live? I know you can do it off line but when I'm practicing I'm always pulling in my new music to work with and it would nice to be able to adjust the gain to the proper level and have it save at that level for the next time I use the song. Are you guys planning on adding this feature? I also see lots of people asking about effects and you guys have said they're coming, any idea on when? And last but not least, is there any way to eject a song using the VCI-300 controller so I don't have to hit control Z on the computer?

Right - this is a problem and has been resolved in the new beta of ITCH (1.1).
We've got this here:

Just be aware for users that the new firmware will stop the VCI-300 from working with older versions of ITCH. So only update if you are needing the firmware update (this applies to Windows users experiencing only one channel of audio with other applications so unless you are, don't update the firmware just yet). And remember it is a beta. Read over all the beta notes and get familiar with the beta process, you don't have to post, but realize it is for bug fixing, and we don't recommend performing with this option.

I also saw a post by Kraal that said all you had to do was make sure your vci-300 was on before starting itch.

This has helped some users, so if all else is failing, then try this workaround for the time being.

Sounds good. I let Vestax know about the two fixes; rescanning the MIDI and turning on the VCI-300 before starting itch. Thanks for your help!

This should be resolved in ITCH 1.1 so fingers crossed it's all sorted once updated :D

It's not that big of a problem but thanks for addressing it in 1.1. I can't wait to see what new goodies are coming!
