I'm not sure if it's only my unit or if it's normal but I notice that the keylock, auto-tempo, scratch, and shift buttons in their inactive state (LEDs are dim) are brighter on the left side than they are on the right side.
It might be a little difficult to notice in a lighted environment or when you have any these buttons in their active state (LEDs brightly lit) but they are definitely noticable when using in a darker environment.
I would think that the these buttons on the left and right side would be equal in brightness when in their dim in-active state. This issue is more cosmetic than anything else but I'm just curious. Any input is greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Dear: Dweebie

What kind of Computer are you on and how long ago did you buy the unit?

Thank You,

Using it on a desktop at home. PC winXP SP3 (3.2ghz P4 / 2gig ram). Bought the unit from GC about a month ago. I'm not sure if it could be the power from the USB source since I have close to 8 USB devices connected to my machine. Maybe not enough power? but then again, the VCI-300 works great and there are no power related issue messages popping up within ITCH. Someone in the vestax forums had suggested powering the VCI-300 with an adaptor.
Also, are the LED's on the buttons I've mentioned suppose to be dim or completely shut off when not active?

FYI. Purchased an adapter. Same result.

After speaking with Carl of Vestax Support, he checked his own unit and comes across the same issue. I'm assuming that this is normal, but I could be wrong. Carl said he was going to contact Vestax Japan and will keep us posted.

Japan has been looking into this to find a cause and said there should be nothing to worry about. When the unit is active and this happens then there is a problem. From the most part thiS is not a defect and from what I was told all units have this

thank you,
Carl

well then japan, we have a problem. just last night as i was recording, the lights on both sides were on dimly, and those lights shouldn't be on when they are not pushed.

sorry but just thought id jump in. Maybe im wrong, who knows but just thought i'd pipe in with my 2 pence worth.
my guess is the buttons lights are meant to be on dim when not in use to help locate them in a dark enviroment, obviously brightly lit when in use.

I have the same problem only mine is a bit worse, all on the left hand side only, when the left deck is paused (play button flashing) the cue ,autotempo lights flash in time with them but inverted, so wen play button is lighting the others are not, not as bright as if the buttons were active, its like there is power leaking into the lights but when another light on same circuit lights up it takes the power away, I was planning on returning mine because of this soon, its just i need it so much at the moment and cant afford to be without it while its fixed /replaced. this is definitly not normal and it definitly a fault in the unit, mine has done it since day one
DeViL303 12:21 PM - 19 August, 2009
its the very same buttons as the above Dj Fresh mentions above, they are all dimly lit all the time wen inactive but if left deck is paused they flash alternativly to the play button LED , it does not matter if there is no track loaded to the left deck.

"When the unit is active and this happens then there is a problem. From the most part thiS is not a defect and from what I was told all units have this"

if all units have I would say it is a massive problem , other people have commented on build quality when they see it (its very noticable in a dark club/room) so even if its only cosmetic it still bad for the brand. Can anyone else confirm that they Do/dont have this issue?
TJ56 2:03 PM - 19 August, 2009
mine are dimly lit when inactive but like i said above this is a good thing as it helps locate them in dark enviroment, i havnt noticed if they flash when deck inactive and tbh as long as there not causing any probs, and i can do my thing i dont really care i dont see this as a massive problem.

As long as they light up when active so i know there on go dim when off then im satisfied.

this is ONLY on left hand side, how can this be normal, all buttons on right hand side are dark when not active? If it was the same on both sides i could understand!
DeViL303 10:07 AM - 20 August, 2009
i will post a video when i get chance and you will see that its not normal for leds to flash dimly when not active on one side and not even slightly light up on the other side.if this is a normal function of the vci300 please explain its purpose being on the left side only?
josue-alou 9:22 PM - 23 August, 2009
I have noticed the same dim blinking lights on the left side of the vestax vci 300 I purchased a few days ago.

But mine are not doing this and im not satisfied,You must have misunderstood. I think Vestax Japan are trying to brush this issue under the carpet by saying "from the most part this is not an issue" .
still havnt had chance to do video but I see more people are having this problem so its not just my unit. Still no Answer as to why there are dim lights on left side of the unit only?

sorry if ive misunderstood, i think your best of supplying a video asap, a visual of your problem would be a massive help for the developers and also help with your explanation of the problem.

Please Call me direct if there is an issue.
I talked to Japan and they said there is no worry about this and it is not a (issue) Due to the fact it does not interfere with normal use of the unit.
