Hey welcome to our world. Its best to do a search in the forums for topics like these. Trust me they have been exhausted. I will set you on you way with this link.

serato.com

I hope this helps.

I personally used a epson. I paid $700 for it but it is a lower end but never failed me.

I love Optoma projectors...YOu can get a nice 2500 lumens between 700-950 (gotta watch when the go on sale). Also Da-Lite screens. They are the best (not because I am a reseller for them) but honestly I looked around before picking a company to resell their screen. Da-Lite has many different screens for applications. For doing mobile stuff or bringing video to a club, that Fast Fold series works great.
However tho some simple searching on the forum and also on Google you will find what your looking for. Welcome to the Video Scene. You will see it makes DJ'ing all fun again (once you get over hurdles of setting up your computer and converting your .vob to mpg

thanks for the info i will definitely look into it. i was actually convinced to try the video mixing after i did a party with vj ralph mcdaniels from video music box, and i saw all the old school videos he has. i always used the excuse that i'm a old school music dj and the video mixing is for the new generation. but ralph convinced me. thanks again

DJ C-4 welcome,, this is the part that will cost you a little. Depending on what you will be doing space might be an issue. So I would look into a short throw project if I were you also be sure to get a screen that is rear and front trust me you want it that way. Now if your using LCD TV's no big deal. I two lcd's which became a pain carrying around so now I have a Da-Lite Fast fold and a Toshiba short throw that is selling for like 1300 with a free lamp if you buy before march 31. The lamp cost 500 + so its a good deal.

I use the same projector every week. Definitely bright enough for a dark club, but like Funky says, a short throw may prove to be more useful. I've usually got lots of space to rear project, but I'm sure I'll get stuck someday....

thanks for the info, i just thought that this project might have been a short throw frow the range it showed, but what is the normal distance for a short throw projector..
DJLRock 9:44 PM - 19 March, 2009
I have the benq short throw mp771. 3000 lumens 2000:1 contrast and 74" picture from under 3 feet.
itchie 12:06 PM - 22 March, 2009
funkytownstopsix, did you get that screen i recommended and if so hows it working out?
Funkytownstopsix 11:00 PM - 22 March, 2009
Da-Lite Fast Fold 74x54 rear and front screen. Got it on Ebay for 400 with the travel case. How is it working, well lets just say very good. I don't feel so mobile anymore carrying projectors and screens but u know what it's worth it. I used it this past Friday and people where in awe and many said they wanted in their home. More impressive was the short throw toshiba projector people kept asking me if the video was coming from above when they saw it was from behind the screen with a short at a short distance they were shocked. As a matter of fact the owner of the club was talking shit about having the best equipment yeah right I could not keep this dude out my face asking about my stuff and you know I gave him bogus informtion...We don't need any competition do we? Happy I am and thanks itchie!!!!!! I did a lot of research and ended up right where you told me. Also this screen can go very high and with a short throw you could put the screen behind you against the wall if space was really tight and project from the front of it.. just a sweet setup.
itchie 1:16 AM - 23 March, 2009

DJ C-4 3:11 AM - 25 March, 2009
funkytownstopsix what model toshiba projector do you have? and which is better a dlp or lcd?
Funkytownstopsix 2:05 PM - 25 March, 2009
Toshiba TDP-EW25U DLP XGA 2500 Lumens Projector. The more lumens the better... I went with this one because of price as well as I got a free lamp a 500 dollar vaule, if you buy one before March 31st you can get a free lamp too. As far as LCD vs DLP its a matter of choice but heres some info..

LCD Projectors: Strengths

Richer color dynamics for better results in rooms with ample ambient light
Draw less power
Throw less heat
No color filter wheel = No "rainbow effect"
Slightly quieter Seemingly sharper image on data
Quicktip: Figure you need about 30% more lumens in a DLP projector to hold its own with an LCD model.

DLP Projectors: Strengths

Smoother video
Smaller box
Pixels far less visible, (although normally not an issue for business use)
More “filmlike” on DVD and HDTV
Generate "blacker" blacks
Higher contrast

LCD Projectors: Disadvantages

More visible pixels
Some screen door effect on certain video images
Physically larger - Even for the same number of lumens
Poorer contrast
Blacks come out lighter gray than DLP prrojectors

DLP Projectors: Disadvantages

Rainbow effect bothers some
More moving parts (color filter wheel)
Color filter wheel often produces soft but audible whine
Poorer reds and yellows at full power
Color saturation
Need more lumens than LCD, for rich colors, when dealing with ambient light
