Hey Everyone,
I JUST got my SZ and messed around with it for a couple hours. AMAZING piece of equipment. It really is everything I wished the SX was when I got it (sorry SX users...the SX is pretty sweet as well). Couple things though.
1. The platter sensitivity thing really is an issue...I can work around it for now...but it IS an issue. When I saw the video I said "who the hell scratches like that?", then you use it and realize when you're about to release a scratch or do a couple scratch/releases quickly...it will slip up. So a YES this is a problem.
2. This thing is just as big as everyone says it is lol. It's not much heavier than the SX though so well worth it.
3. The REAL reason for my post. None of the FX are working post fader. Not the ones built into Serato DJ & not the ones on the pots on the mixer itself. Specifically for "Echo Outs" i use this a lot. Just so we are on the same page I mean --> Fader in Middle/Activate Echo FX (FX engages)/Pull Fader over--> and the FX CUTS DEAD. Same is true if I pull down a Ch Fader. I've looked through the settings, and I must be missing something, as there has to be a way to activate this so it works just like every other mixer I've owned...Help?

The software FX are NOT post fader. This issue has been discussed and they will NEVER be post fader on the SZ. However, the hardware Color FX are post fader, but ONLY when using the line faders. If you use the crossfader, yes... the sound effect will cut out. I too have asked about this in a help request and have gotten no response.

That's pretty crappy...really thought there was a setting I missed. Every DJM mixer I've ever had, the FX we post fader. Not impressed...even less impressed your not getting a response re: The Color FX.
Appreciate your response

Hey Marxman,
Thanks for getting in touch with us.
- Both Pioneer & Serato are currently investigating this, we hope to have more information soon.
like DameHype has explained, the software DJ-FX are not post fader, however the color hardware FX on your Pioneer DDJ-SZ are.
Please let me know if you have any further questions.
Cheers
