I just got the Vci-300 today, I installed ITCH, then plugged in the USB from my MAC to the Vci-300 controller. I'm getting a flashing message saying HARDWARE DISCONNECTED? What should I do?
Thanks

Hi Tony84 - can you confirm the operating system you're running on? If you go into the About This Mac section of the Apple menu, this will tell you what version you're running. You may have installed the latest OS 10.5.6, which is causing problems with ITCH. If you are running 10.5.6, then you need to download and install the public beta of ITCH by clicking on this link serato.com. Please let us know if you continue to have problems. Thanks

Hi there,
Make sure you have a proper earth (ground) connection. Try plugging your computer to different wall power outlets to see if you can hear any difference. Have you upgraded to 1.0.4? You can download it from here: serato.com

Have you tried using all of your USB ports? And do you have access to another USB cable, which you could use to test to see if your cable is faulty?

Hi Tony,
Do you have "USB power" selected on the back of the VCI?
There is a switch next to the USB cable that allows for 3 options - set it to USB power

yep, it has been on the whole time. Could it be the Vci-300 controller?

It's unlikely if you're using a 2nd VCI unit. When you say the screen is flashing every few minutes - do you mean the "hardware disconnected" message is flashing, or that the screen is just flashing?
When you are experiencing the "static" are you seeing the usb droput indicator on your main screen? This will be an orange light flashing on and off to the left of the logo on the main screen.
One other thing - are bluetooth and wi-fi switched off?

So is everything sorted or are you still experiencing the static issue?

Try this:
-using a different USB cable.
-make sure the USB cable is not going anywhere near other power cables.
-unplugging the computer from the power source and see if the static changes.
- plugging it in a different wall outlet.
-staying away from sources of static, like TV's refrigerators, etc.

I got my VCI-300 to wrk for a few weeks with no problems. I had a gig last night and the problems came back, its was cutting out with a lot of static, I was not able to Dj and lost out on some money. I have tried everything....I think? How can I return my VCI-300 under the manufacturer warranty? to get a new VCI-300 controller. I would love this controller if it worked, but I have had nothing but problems with it.

Hey Tony84 - getting a new VCI-300 controller may not be the answer to your problems, since we haven't yet isolated exactly what is happening, and also considering this is the 2nd unit you're experiencing these issues with. Did you try all of the suggestions Jose made? And if so, were any of these suggestions successful?

Yes, I tried all of Jose tips and Im still having the same problem. The first controller I had was getting a flashing message saying HARDWARE DISCONNECTED. I don't have that issue with this controller.

Hey Tony- sorry for the late response; it was the weekend here in NZ.
Can you please give me a few more specs for your computer? i.e. type of mac, processor and memory?
Also, do you have access to another computer, which you could try running ITCH on so we can better diagnose your problem?
Thanks

If you could try it on a computer which meets the minimum specs, that would be a good idea. You can find details here: www.serato.com
Looking at your specs - the problems you're encountering are likely to be RAM related, as you're below the minimum spec. You're perhaps experiencing frequent USB dropouts, which would explain the static. Is the USB dropout light (to the left of the logo on the main page) illuminating?
I would suggest adding more RAM to your computer if you can so you at least meet the minimum spec of 1GB RAM. Before you do this, you can try increasing your usb buffer setting in the setup window, however if you're below spec you'll probably encounter problems frequently despite any workarounds you try.
Thanks
