Evening guys,
I've just switched all my gear on to play my weekly internet radio show & to my disappointment i've found that the Input 1 on the USB box is only playing through the left speaker on my monitors.
Here is the list of things i've tried, and i've come to the conclusion it's 100% the box that is the problem.
(Please keep in mind that my setup works week in, week out, without problem.)
** DECK ONE plugged into INPUT ONE on USB interface box.
> When track is playing only LEFT CHANNEL is going to LEFT SPEAKER.
> The RIGHT CHANNEL on my mixer EQ isn't moving.
> My RIGHT SPEAKER is making no noise at all.
** DECK TWO plugged into INPUT TWO
> Everything is fine, as normal.
** Swap DECK ONE phono leads into INPUT TWO on USB interface box.
(To eliminate problem with phono lead or DECK ONE.)
> Both channels are playing when DECK ONE is plugged into INPUT TWO.
** Swap DECK TWO phono leads into INPUT ONE on USB interface box.
(To establish if the problem is with INPUT ONE on the Serato box.
> Only LEFT CHANNEL is playing through LEFT SPEAKER.
> Problem now appears to have switched to DECK TWO.
This to me suggests that INPUT ONE of the Serato USB interface box is half dead.
It's only playing the LEFT CHANNEL no matter which DECK I hook up to it.
From this I can assume it is not a software or soundcard related incident, but definately the USB box.
I live in the UK.
I have owned Serato since 20th July 2007.
The warranty card was never filled out as it states "USA only".
I can only assume i'm covered by the two year warranty?
Please can one of the ScratchLIVE guys on here let me know what to do next.
I'm really gutted this has happened as I love this product.
Thanks very much,
Daz

Please keep in mind that it's been LONGER than a year since I bought this unit from www.planetgizmo.co.uk and they no longer keep the product.
I very much doubt they will be interested in helping me out.
As it says on the back of the intruction booklet:
"NOTICE: IT IS NOT NECESSARY TO REGISTER IN ORDER TO RECIEVE RANE CORPORATION'S STANDARD TWO YEAR LIMITED WARRANTY."
Because of this, and the fact on the warranty card it says "Valid in the U.S.A. only", I didn't send it off to anyone.
I have my serial number and reciept (bill of sale) to hand if you need proof of my date of purchase etc.
Thanks again, in advance.

Hello dazdsb,
I'm sorry to hear your having issues.
As far as the troubleshooting you've done thus far.. that lets us know that the issue isn't with your turntables but it could be line output 1 of the SL1 or the input you have line output connected to on your mixer.
Try taking the line output 1 of the SL1 and plugging it into the input that line output 2 of the SL1 is currently plugged into on your mixer to see if you get a stereo signal.
Also try using a different rca cable coming from line output 1.
If your still having issues then we'll get your unit in for repair.
It will still be covered under the 2 year warranty.
Let me know your findings and we'll go from there;)

Hi Zach,
Thanks so much for your quick reply, great customer service!
I had completely over-looked swapping the output RCA cables in my panic last night.
I checked they were tight, but didn't try swapping / disconnecting / re-connecting.
After reading your post, I tried switching the RCA cables over, as you suggested.
At first this didn't do anything, and I was still experiencing the same problem.
Beginning to worry it could be my mixer, I tried moving them back over.
Now the RCA's were back in their original posistion, gave it another try...
PROBLEM SOLVED.
Both decks are now playing in STEREO again.
I can't figure out what the problem must have been?
All my cables are exactly as they always are, same cable, same posistion.
Very strange, i'll be keeping an eye on it.
I'm glad it's sorted itself out, but kind of puzzled now!
Thanks again for your help, it's appreciated.
Is there any way for me to extend my UK warranty from 2 years to 3 years?
I know in the U.S.A. it was as simple as sending off that card!
I would like to protect my Serato for an extra year if possible!
Thanks very much!

Always happy to help;)
Unfortunately you would have needed to send in your registration within 10 days from day of purchase to get the extended 3 year warranty.
When we say, "Valid in the U.S.A. only" this is referring to the extended warranty and that its only valid when sending the unit back to us for repair.
I'm glad things are working now. It does sound like a rca cable with a short in it or something.
Keep an eye on it.. I'm sure you'll be able to narrow down the culprit:)

Thanks again Zach, no worries about the 3rd year!
Congratulations on building such a fantastic product.
At a time when Vinyl is too expensive & music (especially Dubstep / Drum & Bass) moves so quickly & is very 'throw away', Serato has given me the ability to mix MP3's using vinyl, which is amazing.
ScratchLIVE has made me fall in love with mixing again.
