Scratch LIVE
The World's Best DJ System
What is Scratch LIVE?
Since release in 2004, Serato Scratch LIVE has been recognized for its reliability and sonic quality over any other digital DJ system.
In 2007 Scratch LIVE was awarded best digital DJ solution for the second consecutive year in the DJ Tech awards. Scratch LIVE has firmly stamped its mark as the industry standard for DJs who want to integrate their computer based music with real Turntables or DJ CD Players.
Scratch LIVE lightened the load for the professional traveling DJ, exchanging heavy crates of records for a huge library of music that can be easily transported on a computer hard drive. Scratch LIVE is now used extensively in broadcast and is installed permanently in some of the biggest dance clubs in the world.
Scratch LIVE authentically emulates the vinyl DJ experience, focusing on accurate control and audio processing. It is the only digital DJ system that stays true to the art of DJing with no auto sync or effects by design. The DJ is in control of the mix at all times, not the computer.
Using regular turntables or CD players, you can scratch and mix files from your Mac or Windows computer's drive using Serato's unique Control Vinyl or CDs. You can easily switch from Control Vinyl to traditional vinyl records as well if you wish.
If you decide you want to archive that old favorite, Scratch LIVE has a simple recording feature that lets you archive your precious record collection with ease.
Serato has researched other forms of control and as a result has also now certified a select range of new generation MIDI controllers with direct USB connectivity to Scratch LIVE. This means that Scratch LIVE can now send track information from the software to the supported hardware on-board displays. You can also use the platters, buttons and sliders instantly, as supported hardware has pre-mapped controls for a no fuss setup.
2008 saw the release of Video-SL, an exciting optional plug-in for Scratch LIVE that gives DJs the ability to mix video using the Rane TTM 57SL performance mixer. DJs can now utilize an entirely new medium and associate video to their existing music collection.
The Serato Whitelabel Delivery Network is a unique system designed to distribute promotional releases specifically to Scratch LIVE users. Register on the Scratch LIVE forum, then use the same login to gain free access to the some of the freshest music on the planet at no charge via Whitelabel.net.
Serato Scratch LIVE is committed to giving the DJ superior performance, more content and unparalleled reliability over any other DJ system - with no extra charge for updates.
Scratch LIVE Control Vinyl and CDs
The Scratch LIVE Control Vinyl and Control CDs each contain the Noise Map Control Tone, a unique control signal which allows Scratch LIVE to track the motion of the record, simulating the same movement with digital audio. Due to Serato's proprietary control scheme, the result is a feel and sound indistinguishable from playing vinyl. As a producer and DJ, the track you finished today can be played on a real turntable tonight.
The Software
The software has all the features of a modern DJ player, including beat extraction, real time tempo metering, waveform coloring based on spectral content, multiple cue points per track, and full iTunes™ library integration. Tailored for performance work, tracks are rapidly located via full text search of ID3 tags, or even recorded directly from a microphone, and assigned to turntable control with a single key stroke.
