will donate money to Serato....

I will contribute a little money to Serato if you guys could develop a better forum. I can't remember where I've been sometimes because there are no times next to the topics/threads or dates. You have to go inside of the thread to see the dates/times. It looks like something I did and I'm no website pro.

I luv the content in the forum, just wish it was a little more organized.
Matt G 11:54 PM 6 October 2008
That's a bit harsh. Which site are you using the forum on?
Matt G 11:56 PM 6 October 2008
As to the dates when you last read a thread, for every thread it is indicated whether there are new messages since you last viewed it or not, so dates should not be necessary.
Jay Rags 6:57 PM 10 October 2008
please check out these forums and you'll know what I mean.

Jay Rags, those forums look terrible to me! Different tastes, I guess :)

Which site are you viewing our forum from? serato.com or scratchlive.net?

Also, I still don't understand why you need dates in the threads list. All the necessary information (ie whether there are new messages) is already displayed.
Konix 8:55 PM 10 October 2008
YaBB style boards?
Jay Rags 5:16 PM 16 October 2008
HUH!?!?!!! I can't believe you're serious. Especially after seeing the examples. The new forum doesn't look too much better than the old scratchlive.net one.

Once again just click on one of the forums here deephousepage.com

Look, I love your product and thought it would be helpful if it looked more comprehensive. I guess I'll just settle for the fact that you've made this great resource available.

Hey Jay Rags,

Apart from having dates in the forum area pages:
scratchlive.net
serato.com

... is there anything else that you think would make our forum better or more comprehensive?
Images?
Avatars?
Signatures?

Matt, considering these great suggestions - can we get dave banned from this forum?

:-P

I love the simplicity of Scratlive.net forums. Avatars and signatures complicate things, linking out to images is more than fine, and its clean / smooth. Everyone is obviosly entitled to their own opinion but I have to agree with the masses, those forums have terrible color schemes and have way too much going on imo.

I feel that the people here are to discuss a great product, the art of DJing, and to troubleshoot not check each others avatars out.
DjWoody 8:04 PM 24 October 2008
I think he wants something like this. This forum is very similar to Scratchlive.net's. Except they added the Time Stamp to the right like he said. Still, it's very cluttered. I like Scratchlive's better.

Only thing, EDIT BUTTON!!!

these forums are great, the only thing that's missing is an edit button, that't it.
pdm2000 12:20 PM 2 December 2008
Please add: edit button
Please don't add: images, avatars, signatures, post counts

Simple is good. Simple works. A more contemporary, Serato-like color scheme would be nice tho =)

Luckily edit button won´t be included.

Wow, those forums Jay Rags posted do suck. I am used to the scratchlive.net forum now but also am weening myself over to the serato.com forum.

One of the best forums I have seen was here: forums.dealmac.com

and here: forums.macresource.com

both are based on the same forum software, www.phorum.org

Displayable pictures, no avitars but Sigs, timed editing of posts, clean interface, damn near perfect.
ChrisD 11:03 PM 21 January 2009
Yeah, they look pretty clean and nice Art.

I put some forums together years ago using Phorum and I have to say that whilst it was easy to set up the code was a mess. That was a while ago though - no idea what it's like now.

It surprises me how many people get hung up on the look and feel of forums. By their nature they're fairly utilitarian, functional things.

For me, by far the most important aspect of a forum is the quality of the discussions that take place.

In that regard I think we do quite nicely :-)

Here's a link for a forum I like... Great content, easy to navigate, the find section may be able to use a little fine tuning

This forum is dope, btw.

maybe the possibility of editing ur own thread.
for example... if u write a thread on "owners of macbooks thoughts"

everyone starts posting responses to ur thread.. and it all helps. and then some moron comes in and says pcs are better blah blah blah and makes a joke of it or says something totally wrong or hijacks the thread, the owner of that thread should be able to delete those posts, so people can focus in on the thread, and not someone saying blah blah blah....

do u get my blah blah blah ?
Screwd 6:23 PM 2 March 2009
I use both Forum - serato.com or scratchlive.net - i feel with bouth of them comfortable...

and how chris said, important is the quality of the discussions

keep up the good work

djfaq 11:53 PM 30 April 2009
oh, AND Jay Rags, this www.deephousepage.com forum UI feels like its 93, I'm still a virgin and I play D&D with my dorky friends...
shigga 11:57 PM 7 May 2009
The Serato box always kept it raw and real with no extra junk, same with the forum.

I aggree,

However the response times sometimes leaves a lot to be desired, especially considering how much we spend (1400 for an ns7)
